The Project Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate budgets, defining project scopes, and managing projects from estimation to completion. This role serves as a vital bridge between departments to ensure all projects are executed efficiently, remain on budget, and align with company standards. Key responsibilities include: Pre-Construction & Estimating - Conduct job walks and develop detailed scopes of work for bidding. - Coordinate with the team to review and finalize pricing. - Develop preliminary budgets to evaluate project feasibility. - Create initial project schedules for Superintendents. Project Management Support - Confirm pricing validity and participate in pre-construction meetings. - Coordinate material deliveries and equipment rentals. - Generate Change Orders and RFIs as needed. - Maintain ongoing coordination with Design, Architecture, and Construction teams regarding budget or scope inquiries. Vendor & Subcontractor Management - Research, vet, and maintain relationships with qualified subcontractors. - Review subcontractor quotes and bids to ensure accuracy, scope alignment, and competitive pricing. - Verify material purchases against approved budgets. - Expand the subcontractor network to ensure 2–3 qualified bids per trade. Requirements - 5+ years of experience as a construction estimator (residential required, commercial preferred). - Strong understanding of Southern California construction methods, labor, and pricing. - Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications. - Familiarity with permit requirements and building practices. - Reliable transportation - Ability to manage multiple estimates independently.
