If you take pride in your work and you're tired of being pushed to cut corners, keep reading.
Synergy Design & Construction is an award-winning residential remodeling firm based in Reston, VA — and we're looking for an exceptional Lead Carpenter / Project Manager to join our team. Not just someone who can do the work. Someone who cares about the work.
We're not for everyone. If you want volume and speed, we're probably not your place. But if you want to be part of projects where quality is non-negotiable and your craftsmanship is actually valued, read on.
WHY SYNERGY IS DIFFERENT
We stay local. We work exclusively in Reston and the immediate surrounding area — no Maryland, no DC. Shorter drives, better work-life balance, a community you'll build real roots in.
We design everything in-house. Detailed architectural plans and materials are selected before you ever set foot on site. You'll have what you need to do the job right.
Quality is the standard, not the goal. Our clients, trade partners, and team all know it.
We treat our people well. Competitive pay, great benefits, and a team that respects what you bring to the table.
THE ROLE
As Lead Carpenter / Project Manager, you are the face of Synergy on the job site. You own the project — from first day of demo to final punch list item. You'll work directly with homeowners, coordinate trade partners, and ensure every detail is executed to the plan.
This is a working position. You'll be in the field doing the work alongside managing the site. You should be as comfortable swinging a hammer as talking through a schedule with a client.
You'll be responsible for:
Hands-on carpentry: framing (floors, walls, decks), finish trim (crown, base, casing), and cabinetry installation
Demolition, rough framing, and punch list completion
Supervising and inspecting trade partner work (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, drywall, painting, masonry)
Daily documentation — subcontractor activity, client requests, schedule updates
Serving as the on-site point of contact for the homeowner throughout the project
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
5+ years of experience in residential remodeling (not new construction)
Strong finish carpentry and cabinetry installation skills
Ability to read architectural plans and manage a job site independently
Excellent communication — with clients, subs, and our design team
Organized, accountable, and professional
A genuine pride in the finished product
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$38–$42/hr based on experience
Health, Dental & Vision Insurance (50% employer contribution)
401(k) with matching
Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays
Flexible Spending Account
Annual Tool & PPE Allowance
Mileage Reimbursement
Consistent 40 hrs/week, M–F, no weekends, year-round
