Potential for long-term growth and increased responsibility Pack Leader / Dog Walker San Francisco | $25/hr Pack Leader | $20/hr Dog Walker | Part-Time W-2 We’re a small, growing dog-walking company looking for a reliable, confident, dog-loving person to join our team as a Pack Leader or Dog Walker. Our dogs spend their days at a private, fenced dog ranch, where they can exercise and socialize with an established pack in a safe, controlled environment. We serve primarily Bernal Heights, St. Mary’s Park, Holly Park, Mission, Noe Valley, Sunnyside, Mission Terrace, Dolores Heights, Mission Dolores, Duboce Triangle, and Clarendon Heights. The Job A typical 4–6 hour shift involves: * Picking up a company cargo van from our headquarters * Picking up 6–10 dogs from their homes * Safely driving the dogs to our ranch in Montara * Managing approximately 1.5 hours of group exercise and play * Monitoring dog interactions and proactively managing the pack * Cleaning up after the dogs and maintaining a clean work vehicle * Returning the dogs safely to their homes * Returning the company van clean and ready for its next use Safety is our top priority. Pack Leaders must be comfortable driving a full-size cargo van on busy San Francisco streets and managing a group of mostly medium-sized dogs, averaging approximately 40–50 lbs. The ability to recognize when dogs are becoming overly excited and calmly redirect the pack before problems develop is an especially important part of the job. Who We’re Looking For Professional dog-walking experience is not required. We will train the right person. We’re looking for someone who is: * Extremely reliable and punctual * Calm, patient, and emotionally steady * Confident and decisive when necessary * Receptive to feedback and eager to learn * Comfortable working independently * Physically capable of walking/hiking for extended periods and assisting larger dogs into vehicles * Comfortable working outdoors in various weather * A good communicator and professional with clients * Comfortable using a smartphone for navigation and work communication * Someone who enjoys being outdoors Previous experience with dogs, pets, animal care, larger vehicles, customer service, or outdoor work is a plus. Requirements * 18+ years old * Valid driver’s license * Clean driving record * Must pass a background check * Own smartphone * Closed-toe shoes and appropriate outdoor/hiking clothing * Recent employment references * Pet-care references if applicable * Availability Monday–Friday for a minimum of 25 hours/week Compensation & Schedule Pack Leader: Starting at $25/hour Dog Walker: Starting at $20/hour * W-2 employment * Minimum 25 hours/week, with additional hours available when business is busy * Monday–Friday * Weekend and holiday hours available for those who want additional work * Paid training * 30-day paid probationary period * Accrued sick leave up to 40 hours * Occasional paid overnight house/pet-sitting opportunities * Holiday/year-end bonuses based on performance Everyone begins under supervision and progresses toward independent Pack Leader responsibilities after demonstrating proficiency. Dog Walkers who demonstrate the necessary skills can move into the Pack Leader position. About Us Established in 2016, we have slowly built a close-knit pack of dogs and relationships with their owners. Our philosophy is simple: high standards, relaxed atmosphere, and putting the dogs first. We believe dogs need structure, patience, and a place in a pack—and that good dog handling means taking things slowly rather than trying to exhaust a dog as quickly as possible. We’re looking for long-term employees, not temporary help. For the right person, this can be an opportunity to develop significant responsibility, learn about canine behavior and pack management, and potentially grow into a larger role within the company. What experience do you have driving larger vehicles? 7. Are you available Monday–Friday for at least 25 hours per week? 8. Would you be interested in occasional weekend, holiday, or overnight pet-sitting work? 9. Please provide two recent employment references and any relevant pet-care references.
