We are launching a residential service division and are looking for an experienced Service Manager to build and lead it from the ground up. The Role This is a builder's role, not a caretaker's role. You will design, launch, and run our residential & commercial service operation — service calls, repairs, replacements, and maintenance work across NYC and the surrounding area. You'll have the backing of an established company (licensing, insurance, bonding, back office, purchasing power) and real autonomy to build the division your way. Responsibilities • Assist with building a service division: pricing model (flat-rate/menu pricing), service offerings, dispatch and scheduling workflows, warranty policies, and KPIs • Recruit, hire, train, and manage service plumbers, apprentices, and dispatch/CSR staff • Establish and manage relationships with supply houses, equipment vendors, and manufacturers to secure service-division pricing and priority availability • Drive customer acquisition: property managers, co-op/condo boards, homeowners, GCs, and referral networks; support marketing efforts (Google LSA, reviews, local presence) • Own the P&L for the service division — revenue targets, gross margin per call, technician productivity, callback rates • Select and implement field service software (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, or similar) for dispatch, invoicing, and customer management • Ensure all work complies with NYC DOB code, permit, and licensing requirements • Manage fleet, tooling, truck stock, and inventory for service vehicles • Handle escalated customer issues and maintain a strong reputation (reviews, callbacks, warranty work) Requirements • 7+ years in residential/commercial plumbing service, with 3+ years in a service manager, operations manager, or general manager role • Established network of service plumbers, dispatchers, supply house contacts, and referral sources in the NYC metro area • Proven track record growing service revenue and managing technicians in the field • Deep knowledge of flat-rate pricing, service KPIs, and dispatch operations • Working knowledge of NYC plumbing code, DOB permitting, and licensing requirements • Experience with field service management software • Strong hiring instincts — you know how to find, vet, and retain good service plumbers • Valid driver's license Preferred • NYC Master Plumber license (or journeyman with path to master) • Experience launching or scaling a service division or standing up a new branch • Existing book of property management or building service relationships • Bilingual a plus Compensation & Benefits • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience • Performance bonus tied to division revenue and profitability • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance • Health benefits • Opportunity for equity/profit participation as the division grows To Apply Send your resume and a brief note on the largest service operation you've run (revenue, headcount, territory) to office@vitalplumbingnyc.com or call (718) 676-4326.
