Description
Summary:
Join a growing team as a hands-on Tier 1 Field Technician, assisting with structured cabling, low voltage, and physical security installations in a field-first role.
Highlights:
1. Field-first position with opportunities for hands-on learning and travel
2. Clear path to career advancement and more complex work within the company
3. Collaborative and supportive team environment with diverse project exposure
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on, motivated Tier 1 Field Technician to join our growing team. This is a field-first position; you’ll be on the road a minimum of 3 days per week, working alongside experienced technicians and project supervisors on real installations across our client portfolio. If you like working with your hands, learning on the job, and not being stuck at a desk all day, this role is built for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Traveling to client sites to assist with structured cabling, low voltage installations, and infrastructure projects
Supporting camera, access control, intercom, and physical security system installs under supervisor direction
Assisting with network infrastructure work including access point mounting and cabling, data drop installations, and network closet organization
Running and terminating cable, mounting hardware, and performing general site prep work
Assisting with site surveys and documenting findings; accurate, thorough documentation is a core part of this role, not an afterthought
Completing small, scoped service calls independently after completing onboarding and training
On office days: handling ticket work, providing remote support for installed systems, participating in project planning meetings, and coordinating with the service team
Maintaining detailed records of work performed, materials used, and site conditions for every job
Keeping tools, materials, and vehicles organized and job-ready
Communicating clearly with your supervisor and the service team on job status and any on-site issues
What We’ Looking For
Comfort working with hand and power tools; you don’t need to be an expert, but you need to know your way around a drill, fish tape, and a cable tester
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; you will be driving a company vehicle to job sites regularly
Strong attention to detail; sloppy work and incomplete documentation create real problems downstream for clients and the team
Physical ability to work on ladders, in ceiling spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs
Willingness to learn; this role is managed and supported, not thrown in the deep end
Good communication and punctuality; our clients see you as a representative of the company
A general interest in IT, networking, or low voltage systems is a big plus
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Any hands-on experience with cabling, networking, A/V, security systems, or general IT work
Exposure to wireless networking, access point installation, or Wi-Fi troubleshooting
Experience with intercoms, door entry systems, or structured data cabling
Familiarity with tools like label makers, cable certifiers, or punch-down tools
CompTIA A+ or Network+ (in progress counts)
Compensation & What We Offer
$20-$30/hr depending on experience; candidates with real low voltage, camera, or access control exposure will come in toward the higher end
Company vehicle provided for field work
Significant overtime opportunity; our project load keeps the team busy and earning
A clear path to Tier 2 as you build skills and take on more complex work
A collaborative, supportive team environment where people actually help each other
Exposure to a wide range of environments; commercial, multi-family, and everything in between
10 Days PTO
401(k)
.
A Note on Growth
This is an entry-level field role, but it’s not a dead end. Technicians who show up consistently, absorb training, and communicate well move up. We promote from within and have a defined path from T1 through senior field and project lead roles.
