Wilshire Country Club, built in 1919, is a private 18 hole golf course located in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles.
Job Description:
Wilshire Country Club is looking for a groundskeeper to join our team. Groundskeepers, under the supervision of the Director of Agronomy and Assistant Superintendent, perform a variety of tasks daily, these tasks are, but are not limited to: raking sand traps, walk-mowing, ride-mowing, trimming, planting, digging, raking, and irrigation repair. There is room for growth within our operation, we are willing to train the right type of candidate; a candidate with a good team-oriented mindset who can perform in a fast-paced and demanding environment while staying productive throughout the day.
Educational Requirements:
-High school diploma/GED
Experience Requirements:
-Prior experience working on a golf course (preferred but not required)
- Professional landscaping experience (preferred)
Job Requirements:
-Operates: mowers, various vehicles and powered equipment such as string trimmers, backpack blowers, and etc. for daily tasks
-Uses hand tools such as: shovels, rakes, pruning saws, axes, edgers, and hedge clippers for daily tasks
-Waters turf, trees and landscaping using portable hoses and sprinklers
-Performs other necessary tasks either alone or in small teams
-Duties are performed throughout the year in all types of weather. Our crew works all holidays except for Christmas Day.
- Over-time is available upon request.
- The bi-weekly work schedule ensures employees get every other weekend off. The bi-weekly work schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Weekdays (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) Monday, Tuesday, off Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Weekends (5:30 AM - 9:30 AM) Saturday, Sunday
Week 2: Weekdays (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Weekends: off Saturday, off Sunday
Special Requirements:
-Must have a valid driver’s license
-Must be able to pass a background screening
-Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally 75 pounds
Compensation and Benefits:
-$20.00 - $22.00 per hour (starting wage), review by 90 days
-Over-time work available at various points of the season
