Gain experience in beverage production operations Position: Seasonal Cellar Assistant Company: Yonder Cider Work location: Wenatchee, WA Full Time or Part Time: Full Time, Hourly, Seasonal (approx. 3 months, Sept - Nov) Reporting to: Director of Operations About the Position Yonder Cider is seeking a full time, Seasonal Cellar Assistant to join our growing team! Tasks related to this position range anywhere from canning/kegging cider and cleaning equipment to loading/unloading trucks and preparing the finished product for sales and distribution, as well as performing any supporting tasks. The ideal candidate works great in a small team, pays attention to detail and is comfortable with a regular daily rhythm of critical and repetitive tasks to ensure quality and consistency. About Us We are a rapidly growing cidery based out of Wenatchee, Washington (production) and Seattle, Washington (taproom). Established in 2020, we are distributed throughout Washington state, Oregon California, and Idaho, with a taproom in the heart of Seattle’s Ballard Brewing District and soon-to-open taproom in Cashmere. Picked and pressed in Wenatchee, Washington – the heart of Apple Country – we create cider that's as balanced, bright and complex as the land itself. Crafted using a blend of bittersweet cider apples and juicy dessert apples, our ciders are hardly simple, and never straightforward, but you can always count on them being interesting. Job Responsibilities The Seasonal Cellar Assistant will learn a wide variety of cidery practices. Everyday will be different than the last, but in general the right candidate will work alongside the other team members to safely, sanitarily, and efficiently complete the following tasks, always upholding our standards of quality: - Operate pallet jack and forklift to move loads within warehouse - Assist Shipping & Receiving with accepting inbound shipments and loading outbound shipments - Keep loads such as cans, apples and kegs organized within the warehouse - Ensure shipments are accurate & paperwork is properly filed - Assist in operation of apple press, including forklifting, pommace removal and cleaning - Operate keg washer/filler to clean, fill, and palletize kegged product - Work canning line, including off-packing, as necessary - Prepare and stage packaging materials and equipment for can and keg production - Palletize finished cased/kegged goods, and prepares pallets for warehouse staging including strapping and stretch wrapping as necessary - Visually inspect finished goods for any quality defects or abnormalities in packaging, and ensures that finished goods meet all visual quality standards - Monitor the operation of packaging equipment and communicates abnormalities or needs with Director of Operations - Operate pressure washer to maintain cidery floors, clean keg and tank exteriors - Follow sanitization protocols to assist with cleaning fermentation tanks, brite tanks, press line, etc - Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly cidery and warehouse environment, including daily and deep cleaning - Accurately and clearly records and conveys daily tasks on work reports, with an emphasis on attention to detail - Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adheres to and advances good safety practices - Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations Skills & Qualifications - Experience in a warehouse environment preferred, but not necessary - Previous beverage production experience is preferred, not necessary - Forklift experience is a requirement. Forklift Certification is a plus, but not necessary - Available M-F with flexible working hours during busy weeks - Demonstrated ability to understand and follow directions, as well as listen and communicate with co-workers - Strong and proven work ethic, and ability to multi-task workload - Able to lift 50 pounds - Able to stand for long periods (8+ hour days) Preferred Requirements - Must be 21+ years of age - 5+ years of hands-on cidermaking or winemaking experience - In-depth knowledge of cider apples is a plus! - Excellent organization, time management, and problem-solving skills - Disciplined, with an emphasis on detail, safety, and accurate record keeping - Ability to lift ingredients and kegs up to 55lbs and be on feet for full shifts - Flexibility in schedule as needed to work to completion - Ability to follow SOPs and aid in development of them Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $18-$20 per hour, depending on experience Paid time off and holidays Employee discounts and cider allocation To apply for this position, please submit a resume and email cover letter to jobs @yondercider.com with “Job Application: Seasonal Cellar Assistant” in the subject line.
