Dog Daycare & Boarding Kennel Assistant Woof Valley is seeking one or more Kennel Technicians to join our company. Working as a kennel assistant at a dog daycare and boarding facility can be fun, therapeutic and rewarding. However, a candidate for this position should understand that the job can have stressful moments and requires strong mental focus and many physical responsibilities. As a kennel assistant at Woof Valley your #1 priority is being observant and attentive to the dog's behavior to ensure their safety. We offer daycare and boarding to dogs of all sizes and energy levels from small, slow and weak to large, fast and strong. The right candidates for this job must be physically and mentally willing and able to address any situation at a moment's notice. To qualify for this position, you must be compassionate, patient and loving toward dogs. No phone calls please. Being a kennel technician has many other day to day responsibilities including but limited to the following. Responsibilities Provide daily care for daycare and boarded dogs, including feeding and watering according to specific instructions from their owner. Answer phones, communicate professionally with pet owners by phone and in person to explain rules and requirements. Know basic computer skills and become knowledgeable of our software to input data, schedule appointments and check customers in and out. Clean and disinfect kennels, bowls, play areas, reception and common areas to ensure a healthy and sanitary environment. Launder/fold/put away towels and blankets. Monitor inventory of supplies. Supervise playtime to ensure safety. Qualifications & Skills Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time, move fast at a moment's notice, lift up to 50 pounds. Ok with being outside with the dogs for extended periods of time during the summer sun and heat as well as in the winter wind and cold. Flexibility to work every weekend and holidays if necessary as dogs need care 365 days a year. Ability to adhere to a set schedule and be flexible when needed which could be often. An interest and willing to learn all about different dog breeds and their behaviors. High school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication skills, close attention to detail, patience, and the ability to remain calm and collected in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow instructions & take constructive criticism when necessary. Ability to work well with other employees and be part of a team. Experience The ideal candidate will possess the following skills: Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, shelter or veterinary environment preferred, but we will train the right candidate.
