Position Overview: We are seeking a Psychiatric Director to join an Adult Detention Center to provide psychiatric treatment and oversight for incarcerated individuals, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, emergency response, policy development, and staff training. Key Responsibilities: Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and chart review. Collaborate with mental health, nursing, and security staff Be available 24/7 for psychiatric emergencies Review lab results and orders related to mental health care Develop policies and procedures for mental health services Provide staff education and training Participate in quality improvement and policy review Appear in litigation as needed on behalf of the Superintendent and Jail Board Ensure continuity of services and approve substitutes as needed Requirements Qualifications: Education: MD/DO from an accredited institution Licensure: Psychiatrist licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia + Board Certification (required) Technical Skills: Medication management, policy development, crisis intervention Soft Skills: Leadership, litigation readiness, cross-departmental collaboration Additional Requirements: Must pass background checks and comply with PREA briefing and security protocols Benefits Why Join Us?
