Internal employees interested in a transfer opportunity are encouraged to apply. The recruitment will establish both a general eligibility list and a promotional eligibility list for current and future Administrative Technician vacancies throughout the City. There are currently two vacancies: Planning and Economic Development Department (PED) Police Department Candidates may be selected from either eligibility list depending on the needs of the City and department. What You'll Do Administrative Technicians perform a wide variety of technical and administrative duties and are expected to work independently while supporting professional and management staff. Depending on the assignment, responsibilities may include: Assisting with budget preparation, monitoring, and review Conducting research, surveys, and data analysis Supporting human resources and personnel administration Coordinating programs, projects, events, and special assignments Administering contracts and grants Preparing reports, memoranda, letters, agendas, and other documents Preparing City Council reports, resolutions, and ordinances Maintaining websites and developing web content Coordinating permits and administrative procedures Supporting recruitment, interviews, employee orientation, and training Responding to questions from employees, departments, community members, and the public Developing procedures, forms, and reporting systems Coordinating with other City departments, outside agencies, and community organizations Reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness Tracking administrative, fiscal, personnel, and operational information Performing other related duties as assigned Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have strong administrative, organizational, communication, and customer-service skills. Candidates should be able to: Establish effective working relationships at all levels of an organization Communicate clearly, professionally, and diplomatically Prioritize and manage multiple assignments and deadlines Exercise independent judgment Handle confidential information appropriately Research and interpret complex information Prepare accurate and professional written materials Use common office software, including spreadsheets, word processing, presentation, and database programs Work cooperatively with City departments, outside agencies, and the public Qualifications Experience & Education: Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities may qualify. A typical qualifying background includes: Experience providing administrative support in an organization similar to the City of Santa Rosa High school completion, preferably supplemented by coursework in personnel/public administration, business, or statistics License: Applicants must either: Possess a valid California Class C driver's license and be physically capable of safely operating a motor vehicle; OR Demonstrate the ability to travel to various City locations that may not be accessible by public transportation.
