Hands-on leadership role focused on excellent customer service Shift Lead – Subway We are looking for a dependable, energetic, and experienced Shift Lead to join our Subway team. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who takes pride in excellent customer service, maintains high standards, and can confidently lead a team during a busy shift. A positive attitude is an absolute must. Experience Requirements Prior Subway or fast-food experience is required. Previous shift lead, key holder, supervisor, or leadership experience is strongly preferred. Must understand the pace and expectations of a quick-service restaurant environment. Subway experience is highly preferred, particularly experience with food preparation, bread baking, opening/closing procedures, inventory, cash handling, and food safety. Key Responsibilities The Shift Lead will be responsible for helping manage the restaurant during assigned shifts and ensuring that all operational standards are followed. Responsibilities include: Lead the team during assigned shifts and keep employees focused and productive. Provide friendly, professional, and efficient guest service. Greet customers promptly and ensure orders are prepared accurately. Prepare sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other menu items according to Subway specifications. Ensure correct portioning and recipe procedures are followed consistently. Maintain excellent food quality, freshness, presentation, and speed of service. Bake bread and cookies and ensure sufficient product is prepared for upcoming business. Monitor product levels and communicate shortages before they become an operational issue. Complete opening and/or closing procedures as scheduled. Handle cash, POS transactions, deposits, and register procedures accurately. Assist with third-party delivery and digital orders and verify orders before they leave the restaurant. Maintain proper food temperatures, labeling, dating, rotation, and food-safety procedures. Follow FIFO procedures and help control food waste. Maintain proper sanitizer solutions and cleaning procedures. Keep the sandwich unit, prep area, lobby, dining room, restrooms, sinks, floors, equipment, and back-of-house areas clean and organized. Ensure the restaurant is properly restocked and prepared for the next shift. Assign cleaning, prep, stocking, and side-work responsibilities to team members. Coach employees when standards are not being followed. Help train new employees and reinforce proper Subway procedures. Maintain professional behavior and resolve minor employee or customer concerns during the shift. Immediately communicate serious customer, staffing, equipment, food-safety, or operational concerns to management. Help reduce unnecessary food waste and control restaurant costs. Ensure employees follow uniform, attendance, cleanliness, and workplace policies. Maintain a sense of urgency during busy periods while keeping the team organized and positive. Is willing to help wherever needed, including food preparation, cleaning, stocking, customer service, and closing duties. Physical & Scheduling Requirements Must be able to stand for extended periods. Must be able to bend, reach, clean, stock, and perform normal restaurant duties. Must be able to lift restaurant supplies and product as required. Must have reliable transportation. Must be available for a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on restaurant needs. Leadership Expectations Our Shift Leads are expected to set the standard for the rest of the team. A Shift Lead should not stand back and simply supervise. You will work alongside the team, assist guests, prepare food, clean, restock, solve problems, and make sure the restaurant is ready for the next shift.
