Housed in a historic 1941 building with a warm, lodge-like atmosphere, The Riptide is a community-driven space that blends casual hospitality, affordable drinks, and a busy calendar of music, events, and themed nights. The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the bar and serves as the primary point of execution between ownership, staff, vendors, and entertainers. We are seeking someone who deeply understands the value of a local, neighborhood-driven customer base and who genuinely enjoys engaging with regulars, neighbors, and the broader community in a positive, welcoming way. The ideal candidate is both operationally strong and creative in their thinking, bringing fresh ideas for events, promotions, and partnerships that help build, sustain, and thoughtfully grow the business while preserving The Riptide’s authentic character. Core Responsibilities * Oversee daily bar operations including staffing, scheduling, payroll coordination, and POS management * Partner with ownership on pricing, promotions, financial reporting, and operational decisions * Hire, onboard, train, and manage bartenders, security, cleaners, and support staff * Manage alcohol, beer, and supply ordering, inventory, deliveries, and vendor relationships * Coordinate and execute events, parties, live music, DJs, bingo, comedy, and special programming * Maintain cash controls, deposits, banks, registers, and weekly/monthly accounting processes * Handle facilities, equipment, and vendor troubleshooting proactively * Lead marketing execution including social media, website updates, posters, and in-bar promotion * Serve as first point of contact for staff, entertainers, reps, and operational issues * Step in as needed to cover shifts or resolve urgent issues The Ideal Candidate * Highly organized, dependable, and comfortable managing many moving parts * Calm under pressure and proactive in solving problems before escalation * Strong communicator who can balance staff needs with owner expectations * Comfortable working nights, weekends, and during live events * Values community, consistency, and hospitality over “corporate” bar management Job type: Part-time / Full-time Pay: DOE To apply, please email a cover letter and resume. ******** The Riptide is an equal opportunity employer.
