Job Title: Kitchen Manager
Position Summary
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations for Kanak Attack, for both catering events and food truck service. This position is responsible for food production, kitchen staff, and daily kitchen operations to ensure food is delivered on time and at the highest standards.
The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, passionate about food, flexible and able to thrive is a fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations & Food Production
Manage daily kitchen operations for catered events and food truck service
Oversee preparation and execution of menu items
Ensure food quality, presentation, and portion consistency
Create and manage prep lists to meet event timelines
Coordinate kitchen timing to ensure food completion will align with event schedules
Ability to adjust prep and plans to accommodate last minute event changes/additions
Leadership & Training
Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising kitchen and food truck staff
Train staff on recipes, prep standards and procedures
Lead by example to create a positive and efficient culture
Food Safety
Maintain compliance with health department and food safety regulations
Ensure all employees are following proper food handling, storage, labeling and sanitation practices
Overlook cleanliness and organization of kitchen and prep areas
Inventory, Ordering & Cost Control
Manage food purchasing and inventory levels independently
Control food and labor costs, minimize waste, and support budget goals
Help track supplies and ingredients for catering events and food truck operations
Participate in menu updates and seasonal planning
Qualifications
4+ years of kitchen management or catering experience (events and/or food truck experience strongly preferred)
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
Experience with high-volume prep and off-site catering
Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
Food handlers permit (or able to obtain)
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record preferred
