Starting Hourly Pay: $17.25 - $21.10 DOQ/DOE
Weekly Budgeted Hours: 20 Hours per Week
Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels is accepting applications for a part-time Transporter. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of food, meals, and supplies to meal sites and program locations utilizing a company vehicle. The Transporter supports daily meal site operations through timely pickup and delivery services from the Central Kitchen while ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, and transportation procedures. This position is also responsible for maintaining assigned company vehicles and assisting with Central Kitchen duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Picks up and delivers food, meals, and supplies from the Central Kitchen or suppliers to designated meal sites
Returns pots, pans, carriers, and other kitchen equipment to the Central Kitchen daily
Assists with meal packaging, loading, transport, and storage activities
Performs daily vehicle safety inspections, including checking tires, fluid levels, cleanliness, and fuel levels; reports concerns to supervisor
Maintains assigned company vehicles in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition
Follows all applicable safety, sanitation, food handling, and temperature control standards
Assists Central Kitchen staff with food preparation, cleaning, stocking, dishwashing, and other support duties as assigned
Delivers donations, bulk mail, inter-office mail, and other program-related items as requested
Assists with meal delivery coverage and other operational support as needed
Other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
Required Minimum Qualifications
At least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Washington State driver’s license
Valid Washington State Food Handler’s Card or the ability to obtain within 14 days of employment
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of experience as a licensed driver
At least six months of delivery driving experience
