Coordinate engaging aquatic programming Position Summary The Seasonal Pool Manager is responsible for the overall operation, safety, programming, and supervision of the Center’s aquatic facility during the pool season. This position ensures a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming pool environment while overseeing staff, coordinating programming, managing revenues, and collaborating with Center leadership to support community engagement and operational success. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, hourly position, averaging approximately 30 hours per week. Compensation is hourly and commensurate with experience, in accordance with applicable California wage and hour laws. The work schedule includes weekends and may include evenings, based on operational needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Pool Manager’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following: ● Coordinate, schedule, and supervise pool personnel, including staff and lifeguards, with responsibility for coverage, training, payroll coordination, and performance oversight ● Supervise the pool facility and its patrons, ensuring compliance with all safety rules, policies, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations ● Manage the operation of the pool’s Cafe including inventory, ordering, sales, adherence to food safety regulations, and cleanliness. Includes minimal food preparation such as utilizing the air fryer onsite ● Collaborate with the Center’s Swim Committee, through its Chair, to determine pool hours of operation, special events, swim team usage, instructional programming, and other aquatic activities ● Collect, record, and safeguard all pool-related revenues in accordance with Center policies and internal controls ● Identify, document, and report pool maintenance needs, equipment issues, repairs, and recommended improvements to the Center’s Facilities Manager ● Develop, implement, and enforce instructional, programmatic, facility, and operational policies and procedures related to aquatic services ● Ensure pool operations are conducted in a manner that supports financial sustainability, high-quality customer service, and community benefit ● Promote water safety education and Center aquatic programming ● Assist with or lead Center promotional, educational, and outreach efforts ● Attend Center Board meetings as requested to provide updates on pool operations and programs ● Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by the Pool Committee Chair or the Center Board of Directors Required Qualifications ● Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, including CPR, AED, and First Aid (must be maintained throughout employment) ● California Food Handler’s Certificate ● Experience supervising staff in an aquatic or recreational setting ● Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills ● Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a safe environment for staff and patrons Physical Requirements and Work Environment ● Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and actively monitor pool areas ● Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment consistent with pool operations ● Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions ● Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position Employment Relationship Employment with the Center is at-will, meaning that either the employee or the Center may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with California law.
