Opportunity to pursue a career in social services Empowering Lives 4 Success (EL4S) is looking for part-time and full-time staff members to provide assistance, instruction, support, and guidance to their North Los Angeles County Regional Center consumers in the area of Independent Living Skills. (ILS) Employees must possess a minimum of a High school diploma, have leadership qualities, be resourceful, and possess great reading, comprehension, and writing skills. Employee responsibilities and duties can include but are not limited to the following: ● Helping consumers apply for general resources ( Medi-Cal, CalFresh, Access Transportation, etc.) ● Assist with locating and applying for affordable housing ● Assist with obtaining employment (assistance with creating resumes, performing mock interviews) ● Assist consumers in advocating for themselves and understanding their rights ● Provide instruction and support with basic financial understanding and knowledge: saving, budgeting and planning, obtaining and maintaining credit, comparative shopping ● Motivate, instruct and provide support in the areas of self-advocacy, communication, social engagement, community safety and awareness, health (physical, mental, emotional), grooming and hygiene, etc. Employee requirements include but are not limited to the following: ● Must be over 18 years of age ● Must have transportation ( position requires you to meet with consumers in their homes or out in the community). ● Must possess a minimum High School Diploma ● Must be committed to work, Part-Time or Full time hours ● Must be trustworthy, intentional, have integrity and patience ● Must possess writing skills (positions require a daily record of services.) ● Must be a quick thinker and problem-solve without instruction or supervision ● Must be able to work both independently and with the EL4S team Those encouraged to apply: ● Individuals looking to be the change and make a difference ● Individuals who are looking to pursue careers in social services ● Individuals who are structured, organized, and impactful ● Bilingual Speakers are encouraged to apply, however, individuals must speak, write and understand English and the English language fluently.
