As a Construction Casualty Underwriter, you will handle complex new and renewal accounts across Auto, GL, Umbrella, and Worker’s Compension. As a member of Zurich's Underwriting Team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills while building relionships with our Preferred Distribution Partners in Waukesha, WI This is an exciting time to join Construction Zurich!
This role will be filled either the Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter Level. The hiring manager will determine the approprie level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skillset relive to the qualificions listed for this position
The Construction Casualty Underwriter is responsible for:
Serving as a customer industry advoce with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end to end solution for their insurance needs.
Using a disciplined approach to exposure evaluion, risk assessment and pricing
Using risk insights, da and models to drive informed decisions point of sale
Market facing and production within the growing Construction division
Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulions and ring manual rules
Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments
Basic Qualificions: Underwriting Specialist- Construction Casualty:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associe Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associe Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
Knowledge of Commercial Casualty line/s of business and the legal and regulory guidelines
Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
Experience with Microsoft Office
OR
Basic Qualificions: Executive Underwriter- Construction Casualty:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associe Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associe Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
Preferred Qualificions:
Bachelors Degree
Technical knowledge of Commercial Casualty Underwriting
Established broker relionships (Retail, select brokers)
Sales execution mindset
Creive problem solving skills
Strong verbal and written communicion skills
Your pay Zurich is based on your role, locion, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compension. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expections are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background mters to us. The combined salary range for this position is $79,600.00 - $172,300.00. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Specialist is $79,600.00 - $130,300.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set 10%. The proposed salary range for the Executive Underwriter is $105,200.00 - $172,300.00, with Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus eligibility set 30%.
