Qualifications Valid PTIN Minimum of one year of tax-preparation experience Knowledge of individual federal and state tax returns Knowledge of due diligence and documentation requirements Ability to communicate professionally with clients Reliable computer and secure internet connection Existing clients or a book of business preferred PTIN required or can be applied for Compensation Preparers receive 70% of their tax-preparation fees. MLR retains 30%. Standard bank-product, software, e-filing, and processing fees may apply depending on the return and the payment option selected by the taxpayer.
