This listing is for a super family owned BMW 3.0. It came in on trade from a local BMW dealer and we gave it a full service, all filters, brakes, 2 tires and a transmission flush. The X5 was being driven on its initial journey to NYC and the customer said the engine just stopped. It was recovered back to a local shop in Tysons and they confirmed that the engine would not crank. The trade in was $2950, and we dropped circa $1000 in parts and $1000 in labor to make this car perfect. It was sold for $5999 last week, but of course we refunded the customer as we stand by our cars. The title has just come in from DMV - so it's ready to sell. Some cars we just have bad luck with - and this is one of them. We don't want to put in more good money after bad, and we can simply write this car off internally and take the loss on it. LKQ has engines with comparable mileage for circa $1250, and of course pull a part will have them for $750 and up. The car drove really well (until it didn't!). The lower control arms were just done. This car was sorted and ready for the road. I am assuming we have a catastrophic failure of the timing chain (which is unfortunate for sure). We did drop 1/2 qt of oil and there was no metallic in there - so it may be rebuilt if you fancy, but pragmatically dropping a new engine in seems the most logical choice. The X5 has a brand new emissions and inspection. There is no body damage and the interior is clean. It is worth saving for sure. The car comes with 4 working keys and the handbooks. Currently the lower transmission tray is removed so the X5 can be put into neutral for easy loading and unloading of any recovery truck. You are welcome to come and view it at the local shop and make a decision from there. If it was a slow month we would just do the work and re-sell, but right now we have a backlog of 3 weeks plus, so it just makes sense to take a hit and let it go. Happy to answer any questions by text. Bring cash and a recovery truck to haul it away.
