Major and established company with a huge majority market share in what they manufacture and a good working culture has an opportunity on the day shift for a Welding / Maintenance Technician.The Welding Technician is responsible for maintaining welding equipment and site property.  Will be responsible for weld repairs to equipment and facilities in a safe, efficient manner.  The location is southwest suburban Atlanta, GA.  There is an attractive hourly rate.  This day shift role is from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday thru Thursday.  OT is paid at time and 1/2.  Paid weekly and an extra $1.00 an hour for perfect attendance for the week.  There is also an attractive 401K with matching.   Requirements PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.")  General and other duties as assigned.   Level I Arc Welding: Able to perform arc welding in all positions, selection of proper rod for the base material being welded, and principles of arc welding during the course of the job. Mig Welding: Able to perform Mig welding in all positions, selection of proper wire and gases for the base material being welded.  Able to weld flux core and gas. Implement the principles of Mig welding during the course of the job. Tig Welding: Able to perform Tig welding in all positions, selection of proper rod and gases for the base material being welded, and principles of Tig welding during the course of the job. Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting: Implement the principles of cutting materials during the course of the job. Fabrication: Preform with instruction and supplied prints, basic fabrication. Safe Work Practices: Exercise safe work practices around equipment. Level II (This level includes all Level I responsibilities) Arc Welding: Selection, without instruction, of rods to optimize strength and performance of welds. Mig Welding: Selection, without instruction, of wire and gases / pressures to optimize strength and performance of welds. Tig Welding: Selection, without instruction, of rod and gases / pressures to optimize strength and performance of welds. Oxy Fuel / Plasma cutting:  Optimal torch setup, with some instruction, to maintain minimal impact to work piece. Fabrication: Preform with minimal instruction and supplied prints, fabrication. Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to optimize safety for facilities and others in work area. Level III (This level includes all Level I & II responsibilities) Arc Welding: Certified Arc welding in all positions. Mig Welding: Certified Mig welding in all positions. Tig Welding: Certified Tig welding in all positions. Oxy Fuel  / Plasma cutting: Optimal torch setup, without instruction, to maintain minimal impact to work piece. Fabrication: Preform without instruction and supply own prints advanced fabrication. (may include some basic machining). Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to optimize safety for facilities and others in work area.   EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Should have a state certified issued by a certified welding inspector welding certification, either on file or in their possession   Level I - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Level II - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Level III - Technical training certificates or associate’s degree, six to eight years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts. Requirements Qualifications / Experience: • Minimum of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. • 3-5 years in an advanced Fabricator/Assembler position and prior work experience in sheet metal fabrication and/or training in welding are preferred. • Must be proficient in sheet metal blueprint reading, basic shop math, and use of precision measuring equipment. • Frequent and continuous light to moderate lifting, repetitive handling and maneuvering of awkward metal pieces is required. Walking, reaching, bending, and a good eye, hand, foot coordination is all necessary. • Exposed to possible hazards, multiple pinch points and general safety issues associated with sheet metal fabrication. Works in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy area. • Must be an energetic self-starter and have an intense sense of urgency; and capable of following tasks through to completion. Must be able to speak, read and write English as part of the job. Other Important Information: Supervisory Responsibility - This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment - This job operates in a shop environment where exposure to heat is frequent. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position.
