About Us Toolkit Tutors is a high-impact tutoring company dedicated to helping students master academic content while developing the study skills they need for long-term success. We provide in-person, small-group tutoring for NYC public schools, supporting students in subjects like Mathematics, Science, and English Language Arts (ELA). The Job We are looking for a bilingual (Spanish-English) high school math tutor to work in-person with small groups of students (1-4 per group) at a high school in the Bronx. Students need support in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, with a focus on problem-solving, foundational skills, and exam preparation. Our tutoring model emphasizes structured, skill-building instruction to help students improve both academically and in their ability to study effectively. Tutors will work approximately 20 hours per week, across 3 days per week, providing in-person instruction at a Bronx high school. The position pays $33/hour. Responsibilities Provide engaging, structured math instruction in small-group settings. Support students in key math concepts such as algebraic expressions, functions, equations, and geometry. Adapt instruction to Spanish-speaking students as needed, using bilingual explanations and scaffolding techniques. Integrate study skills strategies (e.g., organizing work, problem-solving approaches, test-taking strategies) into sessions. Take daily attendance using a personal device (mobile phone) or a school-issued laptop. Communicate professionally with school staff and Toolkit Tutors leadership. At least one year of experience teaching or tutoring in a school or educational setting. Experience working with urban school communities and an understanding of the challenges students face. Strong content knowledge in high school math, including Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written). Punctual, reliable, and committed to student success. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage students effectively. Ability to commute to the school location in the Bronx. DOE fingerprint clearance strongly preferred.
