$875 / 7br - SMALL ROOM AVAILABLE IN LAKE MERRIT HOME (Utilities and 🐱 Included) (oakland lake merritt / grand)

Description

If ad is up, room is available. *Please note, the blue wall photograph is a refrence image for what space looks like with a queen sized bed. ____________________ We are seeking a long-term housemate (a year or longer) who has deep connections to the East Bay (born in, has family here, has lived here for 3+ years). We have one room available in an old charming 7BR/2.5 Bath Victorian house a few blocks from Lake Merritt. Rent is $895 and all utilities are included: water, trash, gas, electricity, internet, and shared household expenses (i.e. TP, laundry detergent, & cleaning products). 7 roommates total. Experience living with multiple people in a shared/communal setting is a plus! No couples, no pets. We currently have one very adorable cat who is territorial and does not like other animals.

 About the house:
About a block from the Whole Foods by the lake. Grocery Outlet and Sprouts 2-3 blocks away. About a mile to 19th St. BART Station.
Washer and dryer on site. Large garage with storage space. Backyard with garden, table/chairs for outdoor dining.
Note that this is a "lived in" house. We love it here, but there are a few things, like carpets and paint that show a few years of wear and tear.

 About Us:
Our home is not a communal home, but we sometimes share meals and occasionally watch a movie on the projector in the living room together. All of our housemates are friendly, but we absolutely respect and value each other's privacy. We are very considerate of each other's needs and expect the same from anyone entering our home. WE ARE EXTREMELY CLEAN - No dishes in the sink, counters must be cleared and wiped down, same amount of dishes used must be stored away, etc. We also have a weekly chore chart with daily responsibilities assigned. The majority of the folks in the house lead very busy lives and want to come home to a calm and clean space to relax. If you require a lot of reminders to clean or tend to leave a high footprint around the house, this isn't the space for you. We are looking for someone who's COVID conscious and is mindful of it's impact. We enjoy having guests over but we don't consider ourselves a party house. We request that friends/partners limit their visits to the house to 2 days a week to respect the privacy of housemates. Some of us are musicians and occasionally play our instruments, including piano, bass, guitars in the living room.

 Current Housemates

*Molly, 10 y/o, is our resident house cat. She enjoys eating, sleeping, attention, going for walks around the lake and generally being extra.
*LF (she/her) is a 37 y/o musician/barista from Chile. Currently works as an a/v freelancer for a non-profit and is working with several music projects. *PM (they/them) is a 37 y/o California native who also speaks Spanish. In their spare time, they enjoy studying Korean, swimming and gardening.
*AC (she/they) is a 28 year old queer mixed race (white/Latinx) kindergarten teacher and dance artist from Redwood City. *JS (She/they) 25 y/o ASL student and restaurant server. *RB (they/he/she) Bisayan cultural worker, movement artist, and language educator. *TB (he/him) latest addition to the house and recent grad About You:
We look forward to adding to our already diverse pool of folks. We will prefer people who have experience living in communal situations and who can communicate directly and maturely. We will request references. No racists, no misogynists, no techbros.
