Room available in dog-friendly, 2 bed/1 bath sun-lit home in lower Rockridge. The unit is on the second floor of a craftsman-ish California-style home on a quiet residential street - 12 minute walk to Rockridge BART, walking distance to shops/restaurants/bars on Telegraph, Piedmont, and College Ave, easy access to 580 freeway and easy street parking. Seriously ideal location in a beautiful, old Oakland home. I’m hoping to find someone who wants to stay long-term, but am open to short-term as well. Move-in is flexible - I prefer sometime between Oct 1st - Nov 1st but can accommodate later dates if it’s a good fit. About the home: Your room is about 11x12 and has two adjoining windows with a view of the Oakland hills.There’s a large living room facing the street, with a fireplace and small nook/office space attached (that could be yours if you remote/hybrid work). There’s a small foyer as you enter the home, a dining room with built-in cabinetry, spacious kitchen with full appliances (dishwasher and laundry), and a small back patio that leads down to a yard shared with two wonderful downstairs neighbors and their two small dogs. The home is somewhat limited on storage, but there is a shed off the yard you are welcome to use. Added bonus is that we have an apple and persimmon tree in the yard. Me: Queer, white, Jewish, lefty politics, in my mid 30s. I work from home full time (9-5) and am usually out of the house 4-5 nights/week. When I’m home I’m usually unwinding on the couch with a book, cooking, playing piano, or tending to one of my many projects. I have a medium-sized older lab mix who is a very good boy and gets along well with other dogs, people, and kids. We would love to welcome another dog into the home. You: Clean (but not overly so), considerate, good communicator experienced in co-living. Ideally you’re also queer and have a lifestyle that meshes well with mine. I don’t mind if you come home late occasionally or want to host gatherings here, but generally like to keep the home quiet and peaceful. Other things to know: -The room will be unfurnished. The outgoing roommate will be taking most of the furniture (including items shown in the pictures) but I plan to refurnish before you move in. If you’d like to bring furniture with you, please let me know. -Caveat: it’s possible the landlords will be building an ADU in the back (timeline undetermined), but they’ve agreed to maintain storage and to reduce rent during the few months of construction (and possibly longer term). -Access: there are 4 steps leading up to the home and 12 steps up to the unit. There is a bathtub/shower but no walk-in shower. This is not a scent-free home but I keep it low-scent and can adapt if needed. -Rent is somewhat flexible. There’s a parking spot in the driveway and a work from home space - if you don’t need either of those I’m open to adjusting the rent down slightly.
