Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Truck Driver to drive our trucks. The ideal candidate will have experience in driving a tractor trailer. This role requires a commitment to safety, efficiency, and excellent customer service while hauling mail to USPS locations in White River Junction, Newport, VT and St. Johnsbury, VT. Days and hours needed are as follows: Friday - pick up the tractor trailer in Barton, VT at 5 p.m. to be at the USPS dock in Newport, VT by 5:30 p.m. Load mail in Newport onto truck. Drive to St. Johnsbury, VT, USPS loading dock to pick up more mail. Drive to White River Junction, VT to unload mail by 8 p.m. Rest in sleeper on truck and be at the WRJ dock at 2:30 a.m. to load mail into trailer. Drive to St. Johnsbury VT and onto Newport VT to unload mail. Drive back to Barton to park truck. You will be done by 5:30 a.m. This run pays 7 hours. Saturday - pick up tractor trailer in Barton, VT at 5:30 p.m. and arrive at Newport, VT loading dock by 6 p.m. Drive to St. Johnsbury, Vt to pick up mail and then onto WRJ to unload. Drive back to Barton, VT to park trailer. You will be back by 9:30 p.m. This run pays 4 hours. Sunday - pick up tractor trailer in Barton, VT at 1 a.m. Drive to WRJ to pick up mail. Drive to St. Johnsbury, VT to drop off mail and then to Newport, VT to drop off the rest. Drive back to Barton to park truck. You will be done at 5:30 a.m. This run pays 4.5 hours We want a driver for all three days for a total of 15.5 hours per week. If you want additional hours during the week we do have another run driving a ton truck that delivers locally to post offices in the NEK. This run pays $23/hour. No box deliveries. Just picking up and dropping off mail to the individual post offices. Happy to share some of these days and hours if you want more work. You do not need a CDL for this run just your USPS badge. Maybe you know someone that would be interested to share this route with you as well but they will also need a USPS badge. It runs Monday-Saturday, with a pick up at 6:30 a.m. in Newport, VT and being finished by 8:30a.m. In the afternoons, pick up mail at various offices starting at 4:00 p.m. and bringing mail to Newport, VT by 5:30 p.m. Responsibilities Operate and drive a tractor trailer. Load and unload postcons full of mail. Navigate routes effectively to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Maintain accurate records of any incidents that may occur during transport. Communicate with owner regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise during transit. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record. No felonies and ability to pass a USPS background check to secure badge to handle mail. Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading postcons on wheels. Strong understanding of route driving principles and navigation skills. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and USPS employees that you encounter on loading docks. Commitment to safety protocols and regulations in all driving activities.
