Position: Over The Road (OTR) CDL A Driver About us We are a small, family run trucking company based in Tampa, Florida who is currently leasing to Landstar. We operate late model sleeper tractors and haul general freight across the continental United States. Drivers access thousands of loads through a nationwide non forced dispatch network and enjoy the freedom to select loads that suit their needs. We treat drivers with respect, prioritize safety and compliance, and pay competitively. Key responsibilities • Safely operate a Class A tractor trailer across long distances. Pre inspect the truck and trailer, report any defects and perform minor maintenance. Comply with DOT regulations, Hours of Service rules and company policies. • Plan routes and manage time using electronic logs and load board tools. Follow dispatch instructions and navigate to pick up and delivery locations. • Load/unload and secure freight. Verify bills of lading, count freight and document any discrepancies or damage. Operate pallet jacks or dollies; forklift experience is a plus. • Maintain accurate logs and paperwork, including driver logs, fuel receipts, trip sheets and inspection reports. Communicate with dispatch regarding load status, delays or safety concerns. • Represent the company professionally with customers and the public. Observe all safety practices and stay current on industry regulations, training and professional development. Minimum qualifications • Age 23 or older, with a valid Class A CDL and a hazmat (H or X) endorsement. A tanker endorsement is preferred. • At least one year of verifiable OTR driving within the past three years. Experience driving in snow and ice and a 500 mile radius (typical OTR trips) is a plus. No DOT recordable preventable accidents in the last 12 months and no serious traffic violations in the last 36 months. • Clean MVR and PSP: no DUI or DWI in the last five years. Able to pass a pre employment drug test and random drug/alcohol screenings. • Physical ability to lift 50–80 lbs and to work long hours on the road. Comfortable using smartphone apps and electronic logging devices. • Professionalism and communication: courteous with customers, able to read and write in English, dependable and punctual. Compensation and benefits We pay drivers a percentage of our line haul revenue plus 100 % of the fuel surcharge. Starting pay is 25–30 % of the line haul revenue (negotiable based on experience). This equates to roughly $0.45–$0.75 per mile, consistent with industry averages. Additional details include: • Sign on bonus: $2,500 paid after 90 days of employment. • Orientation pay: our two day orientation program is compensated at $200 per day, and we cover travel, lodging and meals. • Weekly settlements with direct deposit. • Performance bonuses: monthly safety & service bonus up to $0.05 per mile. Referral bonus $1,500 for experienced drivers you bring aboard. • Paid wait time: $25 per hour after the first two hours at shippers or receivers. • Home time: non forced dispatch – you choose your loads and can take home time as needed. We encourage at least 34 hour resets every 7–10 days. • Equipment: late model tractor with sleeper berth and ELD; optional refrigerator, inverter and APU. Company pays for fuel, tolls, scales, insurance, pre pass and maintenance. • Benefits: after 60 days we offer a health insurance stipend toward a marketplace health plan; after 12 months we plan to provide group health, dental, vision and a retirement plan.
