Opportunity: We currently have an opening in our Oakland Office for a Litigation Assistant. This position is a mid-to-high level position; ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of current legal and secretarial experience, with responsibility for supporting litigation matters. Key Responsibilities: The position’s essential functions include but are not limited to the following: • Provide litigation and secretarial support • Assist with billing and tracking of invoices • Maintaining attorney calendars • Scheduling meetings and appointments both internal and external • Filing pleadings with both state and federal courts • Tracking court deadlines • Opening new matters, including following the firm processes related to conflict checks • Creating and maintaining client files • Drafting correspondence and memorandums to clients and the courts • Preparation of and the review of legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests for errors and formatting • Track, organize, and process reimbursements for attorneys • Other secretarial and administrative tasks as may be assigned Qualifications: • A minimum of a high school diploma and/or its equivalency. • At least five years of litigation and secretarial support experience. • Current and regular experience with both California civil litigation and federal court systems, including the ability to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems). • Familiar with civil litigation and federal pleadings, including document management, drafting, and revising pleadings and discovery. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
