POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Civil Engineer will utilize Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) methods in project management of road construction projects, land surveying and structural engineering to support civil infrastructure projects across tribal lands. This role works closely with the West Susitna Project Team in project planning, design coordination, permitting, and construction activities particularly those involving CM/GC contracts, bridge structures, and retaining systems within the State of Alaska. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will: • Provide technical leadership and oversight for infrastructure project delivered via CM/GC or other methods. • Assist in planning, design review, and construction management of transportation and civil works projects and others as required. • Provide expertise in land boundary analysis, ROW coordination, land acquisition and site surveying in tribal and state jurisdiction contexts. • Review and support the design of retaining structures, culverts, short-span and modular bridges, including seismic and geotechnical interface. • Monitor project process and identify risks or issues that may impact timelines or deliverables. • Coordinate with Tribal, state, federal, and municipal agencies. • Attend regular in-person meetings in Anchorage, AK and virtual meetings via Microsoft Teams. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and common project delivery software. • Familiarity with SHPO/NEPO coordination, environmental permitting, and right-of-way acquisition processes in Alaska. • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies. • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with a high degree of accuracy. • Knowledge of structural engineering specific to bridge and retaining structure design. • Experience in land surveying, including legal description development, platting, and topographic evaluation. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and technical writing skills. • Ability to work independently and within a team setting. • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and difficult terrain in remote fieldwork zones. • Follow all DOT & PF and OSHA workplace safety policies, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelors in Civil Engineering or related field with a Registered Alaska Professional Civil Engineer (PE) required. • Alaska Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) preferred, with experience on projects funded by Federal Lands, BIA, NSFLTP, or Tribal Transportation (TTP). • Fifteen (15) years of experience in civil engineering, including at least five (5) years in project management and CM/GC construction delivery. • Structural Engineer (SE) license or documented equivalent experience in bridge/structural work. • Alaskan residency. • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record. • Clean state and federal background check. POSITION SUMMARY: The Archaeologist plays a key leadership role in supporting archaeological fieldwork, Section 106 compliance, and cultural resource documentation for the long-term development of the West Susitna Access Road project. This role works closely with the Knik Lead Archaeologist, Project Manager, and Field Supervisor to assess and document cultural sites while assisting with technology-driven survey improvements. With a focus on collaboration and professional growth, the Archaeologist will refine methodologies, enhance digital workflows, and ensure field efficiency in cultural site documentation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will: • Lead archaeological field surveys, documentation, and analysis of cultural sites. • Oversee Section 106 compliance efforts through detailed coordination and reporting. • Evaluate potential site locations based on survey findings to prioritize key areas of interest. • Develop GIS mapping and geodatabase management strategies for cultural site documentation. • Collaborate with the Lead Archaeologist to refine methodologies and integrate modern survey techniques. • Ensure survey operations remain within designated easements, identifying key cultural makers such as house pits, grave sites, human remains, village sites, midden deposits, cultural artifacts, and modified trees. o Hold authority to temporarily halt field activities if cultural artifacts are discovered. • Supervise field survey and data collection during 2025 cultural resource inventory and environmental review activities. • Oversee daily operations with the Lead Archaeologist and field teams. • Provide guidance to field supervisors and vegetation clearing teams to assess environmental impacts on cultural sites. • Attend bi-weekly Knik West Su team meetings to serve as an expert resource in archaeological site management. • Coordinate with state, DOT, and project stakeholders to align archaeological findings with development goals. • Prepare technical reports for internal project leadership and regulatory agencies, with potential future reporting responsibilities to Tribal Council. • Enhance survey methods by utilizing digital mapping tools, GPS, and geospatial databases. • Support Tribal cultural preservation efforts by maintaining accurate records and research archives. • Ensure traditional knowledge is recorded and considered in cultural site impact assessments. The Sr. Quality Control Specialist performs first article, in-process, and final component inspections using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), manual inspection equipment, and visual inspection. They will translate engineering requirements to quality control plans and develop CMM programs as needed. This role will ensure compliance with quality requirements and ensure that manufactured or procured products meet specified standards before they progress to next phase of production or customer delivery. Major Duties and Responsibilities: • Interpret engineering drawings and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality requirements. • Prepare quality control plans for components based on engineering specifications. • Develop Coordinate Measuring Machine programs. • Set-up and inspect components using CMM’s. • Utilize various manual measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, and other hand-held measuring devices. • Utilize vision-based equipment such as optical comparators for measurement of parts or part characteristics. • Evaluate inspection results to determine conformance to requirements. • Complete final inspection reports and first article inspection reports. • Upload inspection records to company server. • Document, track, and complete nonconformance reports. • Perform basic weekly and daily maintenance of CMM instruments. Track CMM performance to ensure calibration is accurate. • Understand basic statistical techniques sufficient for evaluation of measurement data trends. • Understand and follow Centrus quality procedures. • Train others on inspection techniques and tools when required. • Keep machines and work area clean and organized. • Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines. • Practice safe working behaviors and adhere to safety policies, guidelines, and procedures. • Other projects as assigned Requirements • High School diploma or equivalent. • Minimum of five years of experience in dimensional inspection and CMM programming. • Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5. • Programming and operation experience using Zeiss Calypso software and CMMs. • Experience inspecting tight tolerance, high value components. • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates. • Ability to execute tasks assigned with minimum supervision. • Requires great attention to detail and the ability to read mechanical drawings and view CAD models and specifications. • Ability to write procedures and reports • Good communication skills with co-workers, engineering, and various support personnel. • Strong computer software skills. Desired Qualifications: • Modeling experience with SolidWorks. • Experience in the use of statistical tools such as Minitab. You don't need any sort of previous background in science to succeed in our courses, you just need curiosity and a strong interest in a meaningful career that pays a living wage (even for the Bay Area!). The best place to start is by taking Bioscience 101: Theory and Practice of Optical Microscopy. It is a fun, easy going class: you will learn about a variety of career options and gain a marketable skill as a microscopist.
