Description

Hey! My name is Natalie. I am a disabled, film school graduate, and I’m looking to hire 3-4 awesome people to join my team of assistants. You do NOT need to have previous experience working with people with disabilities. You just need to be willing to help! I am a 31-year-old with Muscular Dystrophy. This is a part-time or full-time job! I’m looking to fill weekday and weekend shifts. The schedule is created around the availability the employee submits during the interview process. This job includes helping me get in and out of bed, showering, cooking, cleaning, etc. Basically, anything you do on a daily basis, I need help with. I depend on my assistants to live and thrive, so this job requires a lot of maturity and responsibility and, most importantly, open communication. I'm typically looking for someone who’s open-minded, social, fun, and reliable. The ideal candidate is fit, strong, reliable, and punctual. The candidate would also be a good listener, able to learn new skills quickly, and have good communication skills. A little bit about me: I moved to LA after graduating college and to pursue a career in screenwriting and directing. I’m very social and love going to concerts, hiking on wheelchair accessible trails, hanging out with friends, reading, writing, and playing with my service dog. I'm funny (people tell me that at least haha), and I love to listen to music and attend concerts. Some additional information: The applicant must be available at least 3 days per week, but if you're available more than 3 days per week that's great, too. If needed, you can work around your school schedule or other job. Responsibilities include assisting with cooking, housekeeping, accompanying me to community activities/work, assisting with dressing, make-up, combing/styling hair, bathing/ showering, ADLs, and assisting with various tasks throughout the day, etc. The applicant will need to assist during occasional in and out of state travel and vacations. The ideal applicant would enjoy attending concerts, movies, events, museums, being outside, and traveling. They would be organized, dog lover, good driver, adaptable, reliable, punctual, good listener, quick learner, and hard worker that is able to work independently. They should also be active, fit, and strong (physically and mentally). The applicant must be able to physically lift and transfer me, turn me in bed, and adjust me in my wheelchair after being trained. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. This is a physically active job, not primarily sedentary. Some COVID precautions are required. I'm located near The Grove/Park La Brea. You would also have a reserved parking spot and health benefits are available to those that work 74 or more hours per month. If you're interested, message me and we can discuss it in further detail. Previous experience working with people with disabilities is NOT required, you just need to be willing to help! If you're interested, please send me a short paragraph about yourself, resume, availability, and contact information. Please include an exclamation point after your name at the end of your email, so I know you have read the job description thoroughly. I will check references before hiring. A driver's license is required, and you must be able to legally work in the USA.
