We are looking for a Campus Safety Monitors (CSM) to serve at a school in the DC area. The CSM will assist the school with its mission to ensure the highest quality of education by providing for the safety and security of all students, staff, and property. As an integral part of school operations, you will work to create and foster a safe and secure school environment that will empower students and staff. Our ideal candidate will ensure the highest quality of customer service is provided throughout all of the delivery systems within Joffe Emergency Services Security Division. The duties listed below are representative of the general duties of the role and are not an exhaustive list. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Essential Responsibilities
Become an integral part of the school community and a trusted fixture on campus
Act as first responder to all campus emergencies, medical and criminal, that could potentially be hazardous and/or life threatening.
Enforce campus policies and procedures relating to safety and security concerns.
Make regular inspection tours to ensure the safety and security of campus facilities and grounds.
Monitors student behavior and enforces school rules related to student conduct, vehicle operation, and parking
Assists school Administration in matters of safety and security as requested
Controls traffic and parking on campus grounds
Unlock and lock buildings as scheduled for events as well as securing the campus following protocols and/or checklist.
Ensure inside and outside lights are turned on/off as required and inform the supervisor when any electrical or mechanical system is malfunctioning.
Ensure only authorized persons are admitted to the campus while on duty.
Direct visitors and assists as necessary.
Assist in investigations of violations on school campus by viewing and analyzing camera footage, talking with witnesses, and writing incident reports.
Act as a liaison for the school campus with local law enforcement agencies to ensure the implementation of best practices
Provide awareness education/information on an informal basis to students and employees.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum of 2 years security experience
Comfortable working independently
Experience working with children (preferred but not required)
Customer Service experience required
Must be willing to obtain a SPO License
Must be able to read and write English fluently
Be comfortable working in fluctuating work settings. (Sitting, standing, outdoors and/or be exposed to inclement weather conditions)

Job Description
The Campus Safety Officer position operates under the direction and supervision of the Director and Assistant Director of Campus Safety. As a per diem role, officers are called in as needed to backfill full-time positions, provide event coverage, or offer additional support to the department. While on shift, officers report directly to the Lead Supervisor or assigned Supervisor.
As an essential employee, officers are required to remain on duty or report to work during partial or full-day site closures due to hazardous conditions, emergencies, or inclement weather.
The primary responsibility of the Officer is to maintain a safe and secure campus environment through regular patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, and responding to emergencies. Officers enforce university policies and local laws, control facility access, and assist students and staff with safety and security concerns. Additionally, they handle incident reporting and provide support during emergencies such as medical situations, fires, or security threats. Their role is critical in ensuring the safety of the university community and protecting campus property.
Job Duties
Conduct routine patrols of university buildings and campus grounds.
Monitor dormitory access to ensure entry is restricted to authorized individuals.
Inspect doors, windows, and gates to confirm they are properly secured.
Issue warnings for rule violations such as loitering, smoking, or carrying prohibited items, and remove individuals engaged in suspicious or criminal activity.
Check equipment and machinery for signs of tampering or misuse.
Remain vigilant for irregularities, including fire hazards, leaks, or unsecured doors, and document incidents in written reports.
Observe departing personnel to prevent theft of university property.
Activate alarms or notify the police/fire department in response to fires or unauthorized access.
Document incidents involving property damage, unusual occurrences, or equipment malfunctions for supervisory review.
Manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow at university entrances and other key areas.
Provide security coverage for major events such as Commencement ceremonies and concerts.
Enforce campus parking regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Experience in non-profit organizations, preferably within higher education institutions.

Ensure the effective communication and enforcement of Crane regulations and policies as well as state and local laws as established by the Chief of the Ipswich Police, the Property Business Manager, and the Crane Beach Public Safety Manager. This responsibility includes the right to use police powers as determined by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Provide security services both routine and event specific for Crane Beach, its entry gate and parking lot and the Crane Estate. Through regular patrols, establish a security presence at Crane Beach & the Crane Estate.
Uphold standards relative to diligent record keeping and incident reporting.
Ensure the proper operation and care of all assigned equipment including trucks, ATVs, and portable radios.
This is a limited-term position, 8-32 hours/week, reporting directly to the Crane Beach Public Safety Manager.

Applicants must currently be active in, fully qualified for OR recently retired from a law enforcement career.
Upon hiring, participation and successful completion of all MPTC continuing education courses and other training and upkeep determined by IPD guidelines is mandatory.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with record/log keeping and public safety documentation.
Good natured, motivating team player, with strong communication skills and work ethic.
Radio communication experience.
Exceptionally strong customer service and communication skills.
Must be capable of effectively handling high-pressure situations while remaining calm.
Must be comfortable on their feet for extended periods of time walking on challenging terrain including an ability to hike our trail system and sandy beach.
Candidates must strongly demonstrate punctuality and reliability.
Candidates must thrive both in team and independent work environments.
Candidates will be able to fill evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
Maintain standards as specified by the Ipswich Police Chief which include Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council certification and upkept in-service training, “First Responder” certification (3-year renewal basis), “CPR” certification (1-year renewal basis), and defibrillator certification (1-year basis).
Preferred:
Additional experience/background in the following areas is a plus: public safety, recreation, or natural resource management.
Eligibility Criteria:
Must be active in, fully qualified for or recently retired from a law enforcement career.
Must pass screening and swearing in procedures of the Ipswich Police Department.
Must be available to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ driving policy.

Requirements
The Crossing Guard position ensures the safety of pedestrians, especially students, at designated street crossings
The Crossing Guard position works on student days following BASD school calendar year

CROSSING GUARD RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely guide pedestrians and students across designated intersections
Monitor traffic flow and stop vehicles when necessary to allow pedestrians to cross

Report any traffic violations or safety concerns to appropriate authorities
