Position:                      Pharmacy Technician Instructor Part Time                                                                           Reports to:                   Allied Health Program Director Location: Miami Committees:                Curriculum, Faculty and Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings Responsibilities:  The Pharmacy Technician Instructors duties are to include but are not limited to:   ·       Ensure educational delivery of all content contained in learning objectives ·       Preparation of learning activities and assignment for students ·       Review and update lesson plans and activities ·       Attend all faculty meeting and Program Advisory Committee meetings as requested ·       Maintain Inventory of supplies, materials and texts for his/her program ·       Complete periodic peer classroom observations ·       Record, monitor and follow-up on student attendance ·       Comply and ensure compliance and reporting of all school’s policies and procedures ·       Comply and ensure compliance and reporting of all student conduct matters ·       Counsel as needed students on all academic matters ·       Maintain retention goals and targets as directed by School Vice President (SVP) ·       Work to help students achieve satisfactory academic progress ·       Maintain and adhere to all school policies outlined in the SPP and School Catalog ·       Adhere to all safety measures in the classroom, labs and on externship/clinical ·       Supervise all labs activities conducted by students ·       Engage in ongoing development of individual teaching skills, complete annual        continuing education requirements and other items outlined in the annual faculty        development plan   Educational /Credential Requirements o   An Associate Degree is preferred but not required for faculty members teaching PHT courses. o   High School Diploma and Postsecondary/Vocational training certificate, equal to or greater to the program that he/she will be assigned to teach Pharmacy Technician. o   Must be an active Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician o   Must be a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Experience and Professional Qualifications . Must have a minimum of three (3) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught. ·       Must be able to demonstrate a command of theory and practice, contemporary knowledge, and continuing study in their field. ·       Faculty member teaching courses must demonstrate competency in the assigned teaching field, such as academic or vocational training and credentials, related work experience, licensure or certification. The burden is on the institution to demonstrate and justify the qualifications of the faculty to teach their assigned courses. ·       Must possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. General Rules: Faculty teaching assignments are the responsibility of the Program Director in consultation with the faculty member and the SVP. Teaching Load:  a full-time teaching load is typically 10-15 hours per week. A part-time teaching load may vary depending on the course availability. Schedule for Day classes are Mon-Thu 8:30a-1:30p and Evening classes are held Mon-Thu 5:30p-10:30p. Subject Preparation: Not more than three different course subjects within the same field will be assigned to a faculty member during a single academic term. Student- Teacher Ratio: The student- teacher ratio will be reasonable always in keeping with generally accepted delivery modes and courses content. In determining a reasonable ratio, the institution shall consider the following factors: a.       The amount of lecture given by faculty members in skill-building and practice classes, b.       The level of existing skills of the students, c.       The amount of direct supervision exercised by the faculty member and the availability of instructional equipment in a lab setting where there is primary instruction in a specific skill, and d.       The use of technology in providing alternative instruction or evaluation.
