Position Summary: The Machinist will be responsible for the safe and accurate operation of conventional machine tools to produce high-quality precision parts. This role requires strong technical knowledge of machining practices, the ability to interpret engineering blueprints, and the skill to hold tight tolerances on a wide variety of parts. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of setting up and running multiple machines while maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. Key Responsibilities: -Set up and operate conventional machinery, including mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, and Blanchard grinders. -Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work instructions to determine machining requirements. -Manufacture precision parts to meet specified dimensions and tolerances. -Perform hand grinding and finishing as required. -Conduct routine maintenance on conventional machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation. -Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.). -Maintain accuracy, efficiency, and safety throughout all machining processes. -Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding progress and potential challenges. Skills and Knowledge: -Strong understanding of machining theory, shop math, and geometry. -Proficiency in setting up and operating a variety of conventional machine tools. -Ability to hold and verify dimensional tolerances. -Skilled in blueprint reading and interpretation. -Competence with common hand tools and precision measurement equipment. -Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. -Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. -Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Physical Requirements: -Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. independently. -Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and manual dexterity for handling small components. -Visual and auditory acuity for inspecting parts and equipment. -Occasional computer uses for data entry and processing. Education & Experience: -High school diploma or equivalent required. -Minimum of 3 years of experience in general machining. -Minimum of 3 years' operating conventional manual machines required. -Experience in precision part handling strongly preferred.
