Slitter Machine Operator (Jacksonville)
Position Summary:
The Slitter Operator is responsible for the safe and accurate setup, operation, and maintenance of the slitting
machine to ensure rolls are cut to specified widths. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality,
equipment efficiency, and a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation and Setup:
Set up and calibrate slitting machines according to work orders and specifications.
Safely mount, adjust, and secure rolls using hoists and hand tools.
Assemble cores, collars, plates, and shafts as needed for each run.
Monitor equipment during operation, ensuring proper speed, alignment, and cut accuracy.
Production Quality:
Inspect rolls throughout the run and perform final quality checks.
Make real-time adjustments to correct any quality issues or misalignments.
Complete all documentation accurately, including production logs, inventory transactions, labels, and
time sheets.
Maintenance and Safety:
Conduct routine inspections of machinery and work area to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or process issues to minimize downtime.
Follow all safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and company policies.
Efficiency and Teamwork:
Work collaboratively with team members to perform changeovers and set-ups efficiently.
Maximize equipment uptime and material yield while minimizing waste.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving efforts.
Job Requirements:
Experience and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of [X] years manufacturing experience; previous slitter machine operation is required.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
Basic computer skills for data entry and label printing.
Advanced math skills, including the ability to work with fractions and decimals.
Ability to read, write, and follow written/verbal instructions in English.
Fork truck certification required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and remain on feet for long periods.
Comfortable working in non-climate-controlled environments (heat/cold).
Willing to work overtime, weekends, and various shifts as needed.
Work Environment:
This position is performed in a manufacturing plant. Noise levels may be high, and temperature fluctuates
depending on season and machine operation.
