The Director ensures that inventory is optimized to meet customer demand while maintaining the highest standards of financial stewardship and operational efficiency. This role has the potential to expand in scope over the coming year.  The Director will set the strategy for inventory planning, purchasing, receiving, and control, ensuring alignment with broader business goals. They will partner closely with finance and accounting leadership to drive accurate reporting, cost accountability, and strong internal controls. Beyond operational management, this role is accountable for building, developing, and mentoring a high-performing team, fostering collaboration across departments, identifying and correcting system impediments, and driving continuous process improvement.  The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in manufacturing inventory management, and financial collaboration within the jewelry industry, along with a proven track record of leading complex initiatives, influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and delivering measurable business impact.  Responsibilities: Manage manufacturing inventory and fulfillment team of 7-10 people including small seasonal staff, and provide coaching and guidance to the team to create a standard of excellence Manage three areas of the business: Purchasing and receiving and the subsequent vendor management Metal and stone inventory, consumption and scrap Manufacturing inventory reporting including cycle counts and managing inventory levels Oversee and lead department tasks, ensuring constant coverage in all areas to ensure all daily tasks are completed in a timely manner Manage existing vendor group and source and on-board new vendors, including providing direction and feedback to the vendors and recommendations to the VP on adjustments to make Monitor costs and fluctuations to make informed decisions around purchasing Lead regular cycle counts as well as annual inventory count and reconciliation process. Improve on and generate inventory-related reporting to support financial reporting requirements Improve and document processes to ensure accountability and training Work with team to match capacity to business seasonality Partner with Finance and Accounting to ensure tight controls of our inventory and accurate reporting Work within and across departments to achieve overall business objectives and support coworkers Requirements Minimum of 7 years in an inventory and purchasing based role Preference for experience with jewelry inventory and manufacturing Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team with a proactive approach to management including being responsible for hiring, firing and performance Capable of training and developing team members based on individual needs. Proven ability to think strategically, analyze, and showcase critical thinking skills. Excellent excel and analysis skills are a must Experience in a seasonal business is a plus Experience working with and reporting to finance or accounting teams around inventory levels Excellent written and verbal communication. Candidate must be equally comfortable picking up the phone, writing and email and meeting in person Detail-oriented, customer-centric and service-oriented. Capable of building strong cross-functional relationships.
