Requirements: BS or Degree in Science or Engineering Advanced Terra Testing (ATT) is a full-scale independent laboratory specializing in rock and soils mechanics, geosynthetic and materials testing, and field services. ATT is equipped to perform a wide variety of tests on many different materials. Due to the very robust capabilities of our lab we seek out intelligent and innovative problem solvers to assist in ATT’s ability to generate the highest quality data possible. ATT builds a foundation of quality by rigorously adhering to both our internal Quality Management Program as well as maintaining laboratory certifications through third-party industry recognized accrediting agencies such as AASHTO, CCRL and GAI. ATT is also a long-standing member and active participant in agencies such as the Society of Mining, Metallurgy, Exploration (SME), Geosynthetic Research Institute (GRI) and ASTM standard organization. Our clients are typically civil, environmental, structural, mining and geotechnical companies, that provides required data design for structures such as roads, dams, bridges, mine slopes, shafts and passages, tunnels, municipal and hazardous waste landfills, structural foundations, water storage and treatment facilities, nuclear waste repositories, and other infrastructure. As a geo-mechanical testing laboratory, ATT is diverse. We work with rock, soil, aggregate, concrete, geosynthetic and composite materials at both within construction and design process. We put a high value on precision, accuracy and adherence and consequently expect these qualities from our lab technicians. As a Rock/Soil Technician your main duties would include processing rock cores and testing, data entry and reporting. One of the first aspects of testing you will be introduced, is going to be rock sample preparation. You will also be introduced to many rock mechanics tests that we are performing at Advanced Terra Testing. Some of these tests will include, Unconfined Compressive Strength (ASTM D7012) Slake Durability (ASTM D4644) and Point Load Index determination (ASTM D5731). Once you have mastered primary assigned responsibilities, there is always room for growth within the company at ATT. We provide trucks, equipment, and staff to manage the collection of the waste, characterize it, pack it in proper UN rate containers, and load it to ship into permitted trucks. LOCATIONS VARY EVERY WEEKEND. Events take place on Saturdays and some Sundays. Hours vary but are generally 6:30am to 3:30pm. Pay begins at $275 for the day for qualified candidates and can grow up to $350 per day with additional training and responsibilities. Those Candidates without qualifications are eligible for hire and start at $200. Increases happen quickly if you show up, work hard, and are nice. We like to aggressively keep good people. Additional increase come with good attendance, hard work, and more responsibilities/skills. Experience with a forklift is a plus. Upon completion of training New Chemist Candidates will be assigned 3 jobs for an introductory evaluation. You would initially start the same as all new staff and be responsible for safely unloading waste from citizens' cars and safely transporting it to a sortation area occupied by highly trained staff. All staff also helps setup and clean up after the event. After three events you will begin to learn additional skills and assigned additional responsibilities in line with your educational background and performance. With good attendance, attitude, and performance, you will begin field training with a qualified Field Chemist at the events and begin training for the next step. After the first 3 jobs, the candidates will be given a schedule of work for the immediate future and remainder of the season. Staff is expected to be available on Saturdays. Particularly in the Spring and Fall. Throughout the year we understand if there are a few weekends you need off for important events, such as weddings, family vacation, ect. With proper notice that’s no problem. But we want to make clear this is a weekend job and want people who want to work consistently on the weekends. New staff would be required to complete an online company training seminar before working the event. The company provides an extra $25 in the first paycheck as compensation for the training. No experience in the Environmental field is necessary. Best asset for candidates is a strong work ethic. The company values and rewards hard work.
