Description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Senior CAD Technician opening in our Charlotte, NC or Rock Hill, SC office. As a Senior CAD Technician for LaBella, you will perform survey work relating to topographic and boundary surveying, construction staking, structure monitoring, and other surveying applications in support of land surveying, civil engineering, architectural, and environmental projects. You will be working under the direction of a Licensed Professional Surveyor. Duties: This is primarily an office position with field assignments as required. Maintaining quality of data in the office; independently perform accurate simple calculation as needed to complete surveys. Completing analysis of data reduction, computations, and mapping. Oversees preparation of CAD documents developed by other technical staff ensuring document quality, consistency, and production efficiency. Performs records research and drafting as well as technical report writing and review. Prepares cost estimates and assists with proposals. Coordinates work schedules and assignments for office staff. Lead office staff to achieve client & project objectives. Supervises, trains, mentors, and coaches jr. office and field staff. Daily coordination with department manager, field coordinator, project managers and other office staff to meet and understand the goals, challenges, schedule, budget, and expectations of a project. Works with field coordinator to maintain log of calibration records for survey equipment. Continually advance knowledge with upgrades in technology, equipment, and software. Operates advanced survey technology including GPS, Robotic Total Stations, digital and differential levels, UAV, high-definition scanners, and data collections devices. Follow prescribed safety practices for Land Surveying. Build client relationships. Requirements Minimum ten years’ experience with a multitude of CAD platforms. Experience as a Survey Crew Chief with the ability to become a licensed Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) and obtain future licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) a plus. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communications skills. Proficiency with the Trimble family of surveying equipment is a plus. Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, and Inroads software is a plus. Ability to interpret design and construction plans. Self-motivated, self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment and independently. Maintain a current driver’s license in good standing and able to operate company owned vehicles. Willingness to work overtime as needed. Physical Requirements: Sit for extended periods of time. Drive a passenger vehicle. Use a computer and keyboard. Wear personal protective safety gear. Work in cold or hot environments. Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. We are looking for a Survey Crew Chief to fulfill the increasing needs of our clients in the Richmond, VA region. Location is flexible to Richmond and the greater surrounding area. The candidate will be responsible for the survey work preformed on-site in the field, as well as providing quality control for survey deliverables. Responsibilities Responsible for collecting data to ensure completion of a project: Locating boundary, pins, improvements, utilities, etc. while performing various project types including ALTA, boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys. Check and reduce raw field data, perform calculations, and download/file survey data. Perform project research as needed. Follow instructions and work orders from project managers. Communicate daily with your Field Project Manager to confirm if you are on track to complete your field schedule and informing them when you are behind or ahead of schedule. Physical work environment demands: Ability to safely traverse and navigate rugged terrain in remote areas. Ability to regularly work outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wet, and muddy conditions with high/precarious places.
