THE POSITION The Supervising Engineer plays a critical role in advancing Sacramento’s traffic safety and mobility goals. They should have demonstrated success leading teams to deliver technical solutions that improve roadway safety and advance Vision Zero goals in a timely and cost-effective manner. The candidate must also be able to coordinate effectively with community members, neighborhood groups, elected officials, and partner agencies such as Regional Transit, Caltrans, Sacramento County, and the City’s Police and Fire Departments. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to balance technical rigor with responsiveness to political priorities and community concerns.
