Cammisa + Wipf Consulting Engineers has been a recognized leader in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering in the Bay Area since 1958. We specialize in the design of simple to complex healthcare, research, educational, civic, and infrastructure projects for our clients. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our newly renovated office in San Francisco’s popular SOMA District. Responsibilities Understand and apply mechanical engineering principals and fundamentals Understand and apply California Mechanical Code to projects Develop written narratives as needed for reports, studies, and/or project basis of design Perform site investigations for renovation projects to assess/document existing conditions Create technical drawings for the construction of mechanical systems Prepare load and equipment sizing calculations Size ductwork and design appropriate duct layouts and fittings Size piping for mechanical systems and design appropriate layouts Identify project needs and infrastructure implications of proposed design Develop a working knowledge of energy issues/strategies and energy modelling programs Develop a thorough understanding and interest in sustainability issues and practices Appreciate and anticipate related architectural, structural, electrical, and acoustical design issues Interface with vendors to select and schedule mechanical system equipment Review, coordinate and respond to agency plan review comments Perform construction services including submittal reviews, request for information responses, and jobsite visits to review/confirm installation of mechanical systems Qualifications Mechanical related experience in consulting engineering firm (5+ years) Proficient in Revit building information modeling (BIM) software Proficient in AutoCAD drawing production software Working knowledge of load calculation and energy modeling software programs Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam Work experience in healthcare, laboratory, education and infrastructure is a plus Associates/Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is preferred Qualities Organized, detail oriented, and with strong written skills Ability to effectively communicate with owners, clients, agency officials, consultants, contractors, etc. Comfortable balancing multiple projects and responsibilities to meet scheduled deliverables Ability to work effectively and efficiently in independent or team environments Ability to coordinate design with multiple disciplines (architectural, structural, plumbing, electrical) Willing to assess design/construction issues and develop workable solutions Proactive and willing to take on new challenges Offerings Competitive salary and benefits package 100% company paid employee medical, dental, vision, and life insurance 401K / Profit Sharing Plan with company contribution Discretionary bonuses Paid Time Off (PTO) program starting at 17 days per year Nine (9) paid holidays per year Pre-tax Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for medical, dependent care, transit & parking Reimbursement for professional memberships, licenses, and selected certifications
