Reporting to the VP, Chief Legal Counsel, Spindrift’s new Corporate Counsel will be a true business partner to teams across the company—supporting legal needs related to commercial transactions, marketing and product claims, sustainability, intellectual property, employment law, and technology/data privacy matters. You will work cross-functionally with all areas of the company, including Marketing, Sales, Innovation, Operations, People, Finance and Tech to ensure our practices are legally sound.  You will help us build the legal function at a rapidly growing CPG company.  You will develop strategies to help protect the Spindrift® brand.  You will also have some fun!  If you have the energy to think strategically, execute on a tactical level, enjoy being a team player,  are comfortable asking questions, and can learn quickly from mistakes, please keep reading! Key Responsibilities Commercial Contracts & Operations Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts across the CPG supply chain, including vendor, distribution, logistics,  contract manufacturing, and promotional agreements Maintain and evolve legal templates, playbooks, and contract management processes Provide day-to-day legal counsel to business teams on deal structures and operational risks  Marketing, Advertising & Product Development Partner with Marketing and Innovation teams to review product labels, advertising, digital campaigns, influencer agreements, sustainability matters, website copy and marketing materials Advise on FTC, FDA, and related regulations for food & beverage products  Mitigate risks related to product positioning, endorsements, sweepstakes, competitive claims and the like Intellectual Property & Brand Protection Manage the company’s global trademark portfolio in coordination with outside counsel Oversee trademark clearance, registration, opposition, and enforcement strategies  Technology & Data Privacy Support legal review of software, tech platforms, consumer-facing digital tools (e.g., e-commerce integrations), and website content Advise on consumer data privacy, including compliance with applicable laws (e.g., CCPA, CPRA, GDPR) Collaborate with Tech to ensure privacy policies, terms of use, and data governance are up to date and risk-appropriate Requirements J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school; member in good standing of a U.S. state bar (Massachusetts preferred) 5+ years of experience as an attorney, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house work (CPG, food & beverage experience a big plus) Strong working knowledge of commercial contracts, advertising law, trademark/IP, employment law, and privacy/data protection  Familiarity with FDA/FTC regulatory frameworks for food/beverage marketing Excellent judgment and communication skills, with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and highly collaborative environment Ability to work from Newton, MA office ~4 days per week Benefits The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000 and is dependent upon the candidate’s experience prior to joining Spindrift.
