Mechanic Shop Manager (Gardena)

Job Summary We’re seeking a Lead Mechanic / Shop Manager to oversee daily operations and lead a small team of technicians. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends advanced diagnostics and repair with workflow management, customer communication, and shop oversight. Responsibilities Perform and oversee complex diagnostics and repairs (engine, drivability, electrical, transmission). Supervise shop operations: assign jobs, manage workflow, and ensure timely turnaround. Lead, train, and mentor technicians to maintain quality and efficiency. Manage inventory, parts ordering, and vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and safety standards. Deliver excellent customer service through proactive communication. Track KPIs (labor hours, comeback rates, cycle time) and report to ownership Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment such as an ohmmeter. Previous experience in a supervisory or management role is preferred but not required. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with staff and customers. Qualifications/ Experience ASE Certified required; or, advanced certifications preferred. 2+ years as a lead technician and at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of diagnostics, repair procedures, and shop management. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Experience with Mitchell, CCC, or shop management software a plus.
