The School of American Ballet (SAB) at Lincoln Center, founded by George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein, is the preminent ballet school in the country. Our mission is to train professional dancers for careers in classical ballet. We provide the resources for a diverse pool of students to train at the highest level – with 15-25 a year going on to dance for New York City Ballet, our official but independent ballet company, and other major ballet companies worldwide. SAB has a far-reaching impact on the art form and enriches the lives of each student who comes through its doors, over 800 annually, ages 6 to 18. SAB has approximately 90 part- and full-time employees and on operating budget of $17 million. SAB seeks an Institutional Giving Coordinator to support the goals and operations of the School of American Ballet’s robust institutional giving program, comprising foundation, government, and corporate foundation giving components. Through responsibilities in writing, research, and administration, the Institutional Giving Coordinator helps the department secure $1.5 million in annual gifts and grants and build and sustain relationships with 40+ institutional donors. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving and Operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative office environment, has a strong understanding of institutional giving programs.  This position reports to the Director of Institutional Giving and Operations.   Key Responsibilities: - Draft, proofread, and finalize fundraising materials (including proposals, reports, templates, letters of inquiry, and general correspondence) for support of general operations, scholarships, and a broad range of programs and initiatives. - Assume a portfolio of assigned Institutional donors and ensure the timely management of the entire cultivation, proposal, acknowledgment, stewardship, and report process. - Prepare and regularly update organization and project budgets, Board of Directors and staff lists, funders lists, and other attachments. - Identify and research prospects, work with the Director of Institutional Giving and Operations and Development staff to continually cultivate prospects and further develop relationships with current funders. This includes: coordinating site visits, sending student thank you letters to donors, helping prepare call lists, researching donors, and providing support for donor cultivation activities and special events (occasional evenings and weekends are required). - Work with staff across the School’s artistic and administrative departments to track program data needed for funders, including program content, statistics, and expenses, and help ensure all grant requirements are being met. - Maintain a research document to keep track of external resources, field data, and statistics for use in proposals. - Draft acknowledgment letters in a timely manner and ensure appropriate completion of donor recognition materials. - Manage all Institutional Giving eblasts, direct mail pieces, and mailing lists. - Efficiently and thoroughly manage the needs of the Institutional Giving department. This includes: maintaining files and the donor database, creating and updating tracking systems, processing donations, mailing or delivering correspondence, providing general clerical assistance, responding to donor questions in a timely and professional manner, assisting with the production of Board meeting materials, and collaborating with coworkers on projects. Requirements Bachelor’s degree 2+ years of relevant experience in institutional giving and/or grant writing Excellent writing skills Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. High level of confidentiality and integrity.
