Snow School Instructor Responsibilities Teaches ski and/or snowboard lessons to guests of all ages and abilities and acts as a mountain ambassador. Works as part of a team dedicated to creating the best possible environment for taking and teaching a ski or snowboard lesson. Works cooperatively with all Snowbowl departments. Prepared to assist other departments as needed. Pay Range: $17.50 - $20.50 Hourly Tuesday-Friday: 6AM-230PM Saturday: 4AM-1230PM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Receives and follows Laundry schedule/instructions from supervisor and as outlined in established procedures. Receives and sorts soiled linens prior to washing. Loads and operates washers; sets washers according to procedures. Maintains an even flow of clothes and linens to and from washers and dryers in accordance with the Laundry operation. Removes wet wash to dryers and sets proper temperature control. Folds clean linen and stacks on movable carts. Sorts and tags clothes, as appropriate. Bags prescribed items and delivers to appropriate departments. Performs preventative maintenance tasks to include removing lint from dryers. Performs various cleaning, mopping and sweeping tasks. Stores carts, bins and rags in appropriate areas. Maintains a good working relationship with co-workers. Performs various cleaning, sweeping and mopping tasks. Regular attendance. Provides all aspects of functions to support mountain operations at the Middlebury College Ski Areas at all times providing friendly and professional customer assistance. This is a part-time, hourly, non-benefits eligible position. The starting wage for this position is $18.36 with increased wage for each returning ski season. Some hours are eligible for shift differential for nights and weekends. Primary responsibilities include lift operations: Operating the ski lift controls to start, stop, slow down, or speed up the lift in response to operational needs and emergencies; Assisting passengers with safe loading and unloading from the ski lift, including providing instructions and physically helping when necessary; Monitoring the ski lift for any safety issues or problems.  Although not the primary responsibility, the position may be called upon, from time to time, to perform associated Ski Area operations work at the Snow Bowl and Rikert as requested including, but not limited to: supporting base lodge operations, lift operations, snow removal, event set-up and cleanup, truck loading and unloading, and trash/debris removal.  Perform work assignments according to established procedures, practices, and policies.   Reports all safety hazards or violations, and problems to supervisor.  Communicates effectively and appropriately, with individuals of diverse backgrounds.  Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors to assist department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.  Provide race and event support.  Assist with search and rescue within ski area boundaries.  Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.   Come join us and be a part of our team! You will perform routine maintenance on these properties by caring for the fields, trails, gardens, structures, and other natural and cultural features.  The day-to-day operations will include mowing, cleaning facilities, trimming brush, maintaining walking trails, setting up for events, and engaging with visitors.   Specifically, you’ll: Perform routine and non-routine maintenance of landscapes, including mowing and trimming lawns, fields, and along stonewalls, tree and shrub care, caring for and weeding flower beds, and brush and invasive plant removal.  Construct, maintain, and inspect parking areas, trails, and other visitor services.  Maintain and clean buildings, bathrooms, structures, and farm infrastructure, which will include basic carpentry and painting tasks.  Clean and perform routine maintenance and repairs to equipment and tools.  Remove trash and litter from reservations.  Work with and lead volunteers and other seasonal staff.  Represent the Trustees in accordance with the messages developed and provided by the organization’s Education and Engagement department, while behaving in a professional manner with colleagues, property visitors, and volunteers.   Always wear a Trustees’ provided uniform.  Perform tasks safely and in accordance with The Trustees safety manual.  Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.    This is a full-time/part-time, seasonal/limited term, nonexempt, position working 40 hours per week reporting directly to Mike Francis, Regional Stewardship Manager. Requirements What You’ll Need: Skills and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent  One year of experience with landscape maintenance, structural maintenance, and/or park maintenance is preferred.  Experience working with, and leading volunteers or staff is preferred  Comfortable and competent using hand tools and operating landscaping equipment (e.g., lawn mowers, brush saws, and leaf blowers).   Capable of working independently and cooperatively with other staff and having a good eye for detail.
