Staff Accountant
Warfel Construction is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team at our East Petersburg, PA office. This position plays a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of financial statements, reporting, and compliance requirements. The Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, audits, and budgeting processes while contributing to process improvements and documentation initiatives. Requirements Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Apply a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all assigned duties. Assist the Senior Accountant with month-end and year-end close activities. Prepare and maintain monthly job cost files to support closing activities and project reporting. Manage daily banking transactions and bookkeeping for multiple related entities. Perform account reconciliations monthly; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly. Complete daily cash reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances. Provide project accounting support, including processing of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions. Collaborate with the Senior Accountant to update work-in-progress (WIP) data and reports. Assist the Finance Team with the preparation of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and variance analysis. Prepare assigned audit schedules; coordinate with external auditors and provide requested documentation. Document accounting policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned functions. Analyze processes and recommend opportunities for efficiency improvements. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (required). 1–3 years of professional accounting experience preferred. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to accounting software systems. Proficiency and curiosity with Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
