Responsibilities: The Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering calculations and prepare detailed mechanical engineering drawings for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design for buildings primarily within the Higher Education, Laboratory, and Healthcare market sectors. The Mechanical Engineer will work under the direction of a Project Manager and senior technical oversight. The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for tasks including: Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies Prepare engineering design load and calculations, mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) system layouts, and design documentation for all phases Coordinating design between engineering disciplines and the architecture team, engineering calculations and oversee drawings production Perform energy analysis and apply high-performance design techniques Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives Perform on site condition surveys Review contractor submittals and RFIs and provide field observations throughout the construction administration process Requirements Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited college or university Experience with mechanical design of HVAC and plumbing building systems on complex projects Must have Autodesk Revit software for Building Information Modeling (BIM) experience Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software Experience with energy modeling and developing associated reports/presentations Energy modeling software includes IES VE, E-Quest, Ladybug Tools Professional Engineer license (PE) Passed FE Exam or EIT Registration LEED Accredited Professional and previous experience participating in the LEED or other green rating system process WELL Accredited Professional Experience and interest in sustainable and high-performance building design (energy, water, carbon, occupant health and wellness, resiliency) Motivated individual interested in growth containing a strong work ethic and solid organizational skills Benefits RMF Engineering is an innovative, top-ranked, national engineering firm that specializes in providing design and engineering services for all aspects of building and utility infrastructure construction. We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer for construction . Must have a strong background in computer-aided design for multifamily construction, and be proficient in various CAD software applications. This role involves creating detailed layouts, understanding plans sets, constructability and modeling for successful project execution. -Develop and prepare detailed CAD drawings and models using software such as AutoCAD, and Blue Beam. Other industry standard software may be acceptable. -Collaborate with architect ,engineer and field management to understand design requirements and translate them into layouts -Review project specifications and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. -Produce schematics for construction projects, including mechanical design elements. -Assist in the development of graphic design materials as needed for presentations or project proposals. -Maintain organized files of all designs and revisions for easy access by team members. You must have : Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD. New construction CAD experience is required- rough trades- will discuss. Strong understanding of construction documentation as well as production builds. Site / Field experience is a plus. Ability to prove recent experience and employment in this field. Repair operations which may be supported include gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, epoxies/composites, and mechanical/machining processes. The candidate will need to have or learn the ability to develop and interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards. Applicant must be able to plan and execute work programs, design experiments, analyze experimental results, and prepare technical reports. * Candidates who have automated/mechanized gas tungsten arc welding experience and that have demonstrated acumen in executing laboratory work are preferred. Uses CAD equipment and REVIT for preparing routine layouts of fire sprinkler systems, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches and diagrams. Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for installation. Make copies of drawings and maintains information regarding changes to database. Makes simple decisions but refers most questions / problems to lead designers. Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with design and fire sprinkler terminology. Mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations. * Designs fire protection sprinkler systems with as much accuracy and detail as possible to enable the field installation to be completed with as few design errors as possible. * Reviews work order and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design and designs fire protection sprinkler systems within allocated hours for each job. * Calculates figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production, layout and installation processes. * Submits design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtains permits as required. Confers with engineering and design staff to determine design modifications and enters editing information into computer. * Keys in specified information to produce graphic representation (hard copy) of design for review and approval by engineering and design staff. * Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project. * Make revisions to size, shape and arrangement of parts to create practical design drawings. * Sketches rough layout of system and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location of holes. * Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of layout and systems. Education and/or Experience One year certificate from college or technical school; five to 15 years related experience and/or training in the design of fire sprinkler systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of REVIT and CAD Design software and MicroSoft Office products Word Processing software.
