Role Summary The Head of HR will be a key member of the management team, responsible for designing and executing Ternus’s human capital strategy. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with Ternus’s business objectives and values. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on all HR matters including organizational design, workforce planning, and change management. Partner with departmental heads to support business unit needs. Talent Acquisition & Development Build and oversee a recruiting function to attract top-tier talent across lending, operations, technology, and support teams. Lead development of robust onboarding, training, and career pathing frameworks. Design and implement performance management systems that promote accountability, growth, and alignment with business goals. Culture & Employee Experience Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture that reflects Ternus’s mission and values. Own employee engagement initiatives, pulse surveys, and feedback loops to continuously improve the employee experience. HR Operations & Compliance Maintain HR policies, handbooks, and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Manage employee relations, investigations, and resolution processes. Oversee HR systems (e.g., HRIS, payroll, benefits platforms). Compensation & Benefits Design competitive compensation structures and benefit offerings that attract and retain talent. Lead annual compensation reviews, benchmarking, and incentive planning. Requirements Qualifications 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, including 1+ years in a leadership role. Strong understanding of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices. Experience in lending, private equity, fintech, or mortgage operations is a plus. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Foremen and superintendents are to write reports but assistance may be needed when investigating and finding the route cause. Provide appropriate documentation to the Corporate Safety Department and GC once approved. Accompany any injured worker throughout any medical treatment that may be necessary to ensure the employee gets proper care and that the injury/care is properly managed. Ensure appropriate management of work-related injuries and proper care for injured employees. Develop and implement procedures to eliminate hazards and situations as those discovered through lessons learned and investigations from prior incidents. Recommend corrective actions and/or disciplinary procedures for violations of HSE rules, procedures. Review and record all required job site safety documentation created by foreman to ensure compliance corporate policy. Coach and correct when needed. Assist in new hire orientation as needed. Conduct work area surveillance inspections and air sampling tests for welding operations as needed for specific work. The HRIS Mgr. will oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our client's Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). Reporting to the HRIS & Payroll Director, this role collaborates closely with the HR Payroll Manager to ensure seamless integration between HRIS and payroll systems. The HRIS Manager will focus on enhancing system functionality, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting strategic HR initiatives. This position is remote based, but requires someone who is within driving distance to the main office in Brighton, MI and willing to go onsite as needed throughout the implementation process, meetings and as needed. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Assist the HRIS/Payroll Director in developing and implementing HRIS/Payroll strategy that aligns with organizational objectives. Collaborate with HR Payroll Manager to ensure seamless integration between HRIS and payroll functionality. Key resource on HRIS/Payroll new system initiative/rollout and ongoing system module enhancements/implementations.
