Description

Shift: First/Second Compensation: Pay rate: $25-$30 per hour. Includes a 10% quarterly bonus opportunity and employer-paid benefits Location: Near Canton, MI Job Overview: As an OD/ID Grinder, you'll be responsible for setting up, operating, and fine-tuning OD/ID grinding machines to precisely grind the inner and outer diameters of parts to specified dimensions. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of grinding procedures and equipment. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Set up, operate, and adjust OD/ID grinding machines. Follow setup sheets or customer specifications to ensure accurate machining. Verify machine setups and product characteristics to ensure compliance with part print specifications, both initially and throughout the production run, using appropriate measuring devices. Select, dress, and mount grinding wheels as per specifications, utilizing hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding techniques. Inspect workpieces visually and by measurement to confirm that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications. Set up and use measuring devices as required. Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments; halt operations if problems are detected. Provide assistance and training to other team members as needed. Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment, adhering to manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting issues, and arranging repairs as necessary. Operate power tools and other machinery while strictly following safety protocols. Undertake additional tasks as assigned. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. 2-5 years of experience in grinding, preferred. Familiarity with basic hand tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Strong attention to detail. Physical Requirements: Excellent visual acuity for detailed tasks. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted. Capable of standing for the duration of the shift. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of background and substance abuse tests. Proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Adherence to safety rules and regulations. Commitment to working in an environment free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion, or harassment. Exposure to manufacturing environment hazards such as fumes, airborne particles, dirt, dust, and solvents. Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, as production demands. Additional Skills: Experience with wheel dressing and both ID and OD grinding. Proficiency with hand tools and manual machines. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Experience with Parker machines and various blueprint specifications. The successful candidate will ensure that extruded product meets specified requirements as well as adhering to safety expectations. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated individual to be responsible for the efficient and accurate process of producing various rubber profiles from raw material with microwave or heated water curing. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to best practices in machine operations, contributing to teamwork and respecting all policies as outlined in the employee handbook. Work Schedule: Monday-Wednesday, 7PM – 7AM Pay: $18.64 + $1 shift differential Requirements Monitor and verify the quality of the extruded profile. Ensure that the compound is entering the extruder continuously and smoothly. Ensure all dimensions are within product specifications. Trouble shoot extrusion process & interact with Maintenance in resolution of equipment problems. Make regular checks on the water level in the cooling tank and ensure that the profile is centered on the hot air tunnel belt. Ensure samples are available for the Q.C. Inspector and measurements are done to the specified frequencies. Pack or cut to the cut length specifications the extruded profile as instructed. Ensure printing and logo is correct and is in accordance with the drawing. Follow quality procedures, document, and record all required process control information. Must be eager to learn, excited to work on a team, and have good written and verbal communication skills Other duties as the need arises and/or assigned. Qualifications & Experience Must be 18 years of age or older. High School diploma or equivalent experience. Must be able to use or can be trained on various types of measuring tools related to our stamping and gasket manufacturing process. Demonstrates the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read, write and comprehend sophisticated instructions, correspondence, and reports. Requires good mobility and involves considerable lifting (less than 35 lbs.), pulling, bending, standing and walking. Working conditions The incumbent in this role spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment, which may involve varying degrees of physical labor such as standing and walking for long periods of time, lifting, pushing and pulling. Incumbent will use standard personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and aprons.
