Position Overview: We are looking for a hands-on and dependable Commercial Maintenance Technician to support the ongoing operation and upkeep of our commercial facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in general building systems, a commitment to safety, and a proactive approach to solving maintenance challenges. This position also provides the opportunity to expand into new technical areas through on-the-job learning and cross-training. Responsibilities: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and mechanical components. Respond to maintenance tickets in a timely and professional manner, minimizing downtime and disruption to building operations. Inspect, diagnose, and resolve minor issues across building interiors and exteriors—roof, walls, ceilings, flooring, doors, fixtures, etc. Assist with basic equipment maintenance, including commercial-grade appliances and systems found in shared-use areas. Support building cleanliness and safety through routine checks of fire exits, alarms, emergency lighting, and security features. Maintain service logs, tool inventory, and supply records with accuracy and detail. Collaborate with contractors and vendors for specialized projects or repairs. Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times. Participate in an emergency on-call rotation for after-hours repairs. Willingness to develop skills in specific systems as needed. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school a plus. 2+ years of commercial maintenance or facilities experience preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills across a variety of building systems. Ability to use basic diagnostic tools and read blueprints or system diagrams. Strong work ethic, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize tasks independently. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working from heights or in tight spaces. Preferred (but not required): HVAC Certification and Refrigeration Certification (EPA Section 608) OSHA 10/30 certification Prior experience with laundry systems or commercial appliance repair Working knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) Work Conditions: Regular exposure to active commercial environments, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and public-use areas. Use of power tools, ladders, and safety equipment in both indoor and outdoor settings. Occasional work during evenings, weekends, or holidays for emergencies or special projects. The Chief Engineer has experience working in a hotel setting. The Chief Engineer will supervise the maintenance team and responsible for the physical condition of the hotel to ensure highest standards of guest satisfaction within allotted budget. Performs work within departmental expense plans. · Maintains hotel by performing painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities. Replaces/cleans air conditioner filters. Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment. May tend furnace, air conditioner and boiler to provide heat, cool air and hot water for guests. Interprets specifications, job orders and company policies to maintenance employees. · Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules, recommends measures to improve production. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in resolving work problems. · Training and monitoring safe practices of staff. Requirements A minimum of three years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferably in a hotel property. · Strong written and oral communication skills. Functional and productive skills using technology such as personal computers, smartphones, and Microsoft software. · Familiarity with hotel property management systems, purchase order and procurement systems, and the ability to learn new software and related applications including work order and productivity systems. · Supervises and motivates maintenance staff including hiring, firing, coaching, counseling, evaluating and training activities.
