Who We Are Seeking: A proactive and customer-focused IT Support Specialist who excels at troubleshooting issues with PCs, laptops, and mobile devices using remote management tools, and who thrives in an environment where attention to detail, organization, and collaboration are key. This position requires someone who can manage and maintain IT equipment and software inventories, handle equipment purchasing and end-of-life disposal, and document technical procedures and system changes in an internal wiki. The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for monitoring system alerts and emails daily, keeping IT storage areas organized at all CVTC campuses, and provide exceptional customer service and training to all CVTC Staff Members and Council. We're seeking someone who values teamwork, communicates well with vendors and external consultants, and is committed to ongoing professional development. Qualifications, Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other IT-related disciplines preferred but may be substituted for four (4) additional years of relative experience. Two (2) years of help desk and/or troubleshooting experience. IT certifications are a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team. Ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical staff and customers. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Superior understanding of computer and mobile device hardware and software systems. Strong leadership skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute. Proficient with Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn new or updated software trouble shooting. Ability to follow IT best practices and ensure security compliance. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn a broad array of networking and system hardware and software. Proficient installing and maintaining Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems. Experience working in virtual and cloud environments. Experience with Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). Certificates and Licenses: A valid Alaska Driver’s license and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy is a requirement of this position.
