Position Overview: Prepare portions of or complete contract proposal estimates for one or more disciplines, including the determination of applicable project plans and specifications.  Assigned Responsibilities: Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.  Maintain files of working documents as back up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc. May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials. Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man hour figures. Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work. Lead and coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project as assigned. Maintain files of working documents as back up for estimates figures. Interact with owner, A/E, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility. Follow awarded contracts as assigned, may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring material, etc. Works with the Senior Project Manager and VP to assign responsibilities on each project. Oversight of the Virginia estimating process for all projects including maintenance of standardized procedures, methods, and processes for estimating. Works with Corporate office to prepare bid forms, request bid bonds, insurance, and coordinate delivery of bid documents between offices. Develop and maintain project lead log for the Virginia Office. Maintain prequalification for State, City & County Agencies Solicit subcontractors and suppliers in support of project bids. Attend outreach events in effort to identify subcontractor and bid opportunities. Provide complete detailed estimates for concrete work, structures, earthwork, piling, etc. Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids. Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures. Track awarded contracts as required. Maintain subcontractor data base and develop positive relationships with subcontractors. **THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION** **If you are an electrical apprentice, this positions hours will not go towards your apprenticeship** The Electrical Estimator will prepare estimates for the Electrical components of assigned projects using Accubid Anywhere with LiveCount Cloud software to simulate the construction process and evaluate the costs of design choices. The Estimator may often consult databases and their own records to compare costs of similar projects. An Estimators’ work product may include cost identification of elements such as raw materials and labor as well as a timeline for project completion. Duties/Responsibilities: Develop a thorough knowledge of Mark III Construction’s estimating system including computer programs, manuals, procedure and forms. Review proposal specifications, drawings and attend/lead pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate including conceptual estimating to ensure quality control compliance of the estimated costs. Develop and provide complete, accurate and timely detailed estimates representing a project’s Electrical system, costs, associated general conditions, required overhead and profit. Perform quantity take-off of Electrical materials for plan/spec and design build projects. Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for quotes and specification compliance. Maintain all files of working bid documents, notes and assumptions of project estimates. Perform layout of electrical systems as required to provide a complete system for estimating purposes when the documents are not complete. Define productivity requirements for the uniqueness of each project. Develop conceptual budget estimates from system narratives and/or system sketches. Design electrical service systems for projects including building and pre-construction services. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Electrical Estimating Manager Report daily information and all communications to the Electrical Estimating Manager Perform any and all tasks as assigned by the Electrical Estimating Manager Keep detailed records of any and all items associated with the project and save them in the estimate folder. Requirements Possess skill set to perform estimating process support for plan/spec; design assist and design build delivery methods. Proficient in structuring the estimate and set up models to support the unique project RFP language defining costs components. Ability to read and understand a complete set of plans to include all construction trades and be familiar with a variety of Electrical systems and terminology. Above average skills in Microsoft Office products and computer trends/technology. Strong mathematical skills and familiarity with Bluebeam and Accubid Anywhere with LiveCount Cloud Ability to balance and effectively work on multiple projects at the same time. Have strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to effectively interact with vendors, customers, field personnel, sales and office staff in a friendly, professional manner at all times. Education and Experience: Three years’ experience in Electrical estimating on commercial, industrial and institutional projects. Specific knowledge and experience with Estimating Software systems is a must. Specific experience with Accubid Anywhere and LiveCount Cloud software is a major plus. Five years of related mechanical/HVAC electrical estimating experience. Previous experience as an electrical trainee, apprentice, journeyman a plus. Field experience is a major plus. High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
