What you'll be doing You will report to the Content Director. Tom's Guide is looking for an experienced editor to help lead our daily coverage of AI and oversee — and build — our relevant bedrock of evergreen articles and tutorials. You will write news on the latest AI developments, producing features and opinions on this evolving technology and using and reviewing the latest consumer-facing AI tools. Whether it's ChatGPT, Gemini, Apple Intelligence, Copilot, Midjourney, Grok, Claude, Perplexity or Mistral, you should have an in-depth passion for these tools and help our readers get the most from them. An important part of this role is also creating critical “best pick” articles to always give our readers the latest solutions for their needs. This includes AI image generators, chatbots or video editors — no two guides are ever the same. This is also a senior editor role, so you will be responsible for managing and training junior writers and commissioning and overseeing content from a wide pool of freelance writers. The aim is to maintain Tom's Guide's position as an expert in the AI space. We want you to speak to founders, attending events and helping our site remain one of the top destinations for valuable and useful coverage of AI. If you're an expert on all things AI with an editorial voice, this job is for you! Key role responsibilities Producing and growing all relevant AI-related content across the Tom's Guide site for an international audience (UK, US, Canada, Europe and Australia) of engaged readers. Managing the output of staff and freelance writers, editing and scheduling stories and bringing a guiding hand for their development. Maintaining key best pick articles and hubs on AI topics, tools and processes Writing news, reviews, live blogs and feature content on a daily basis Brainstorming thoughtful analysis and opinion coverage to help Tom's Guide stand out as well as interacting with readers via our forum and commenting system Assisting with relevant computing deals coverage, especially during critical shopping seasons such as Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day Tracking the performance of the AI channel through dedicated analytics platforms like Marfeel, Looker and Google Analytics to grow our audience. Experience that will put you ahead of the curve At least 5 years of experience at an online media outlet with an understanding of e-commerce journalism Experience researching SEO trends and analyzing traffic Experience collaborating in cross-functional, decentralized and international teams Strong industry contacts are a major plus as well as an ability to travel and occasionally work unsociable hours. A working knowledge and passion for the rapidly changing AI industry On-camera experience is a bonus, but not strictly necessary.
