Lead Java Backend Developer Location: Pittsburgh, PA; Dallas, TX; Cleveland, OH Workplace Type: Hybrid 3 days in week onsite About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Java Backend Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and guiding backend development initiatives, ensuring the delivery of scalable, high-performance, and robust solutions. You will leverage your deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and cloud technologies to lead a team of talented developers and drive the architectural vision for our backend systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for building innovative and impactful software. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, product managers, and QA engineers, to define and implement technical solutions that meet business requirements. Ensure optimal database design and integration with SQL/NoSQL databases, optimizing performance and data integrity. Work closely with DevOps teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ensuring seamless and efficient release processes. Troubleshoot performance issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements for scalability, efficiency, and overall system stability. Lead and mentor a team of Java backend developers, providing technical guidance, fostering a collaborative environment, and promoting best practices. Participate in code reviews, ensuring code quality, adherence to standards, and knowledge sharing within the team. Contribute to the architectural design and evolution of our backend systems, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business goals. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in Java backend development and cloud computing, and proactively identify opportunities to leverage them to improve our systems. Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Required Skills & Qualifications 14+ years of hands-on experience in Java backend development, with a proven track record of building and deploying scalable and high-performance systems. Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Microservices, Multithreading REST APIs, and Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Proficiency in database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar), with experience in designing and optimizing database schemas and queries. Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines, with a strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
